Happy Father’s Day from the Maritime Museum of San Diego.

Today we celebrate the dads, grandfathers, father figures, mentors, captains, teachers, storytellers, and steady hands who help guide the next generation.

Just like the vessels in our collection, so many fathers carry stories of courage, adventure, hard work, humor, and heart. They teach us how to navigate calm seas, weather storms, and appreciate the journey along the way.

To every dad spending the day with family, sharing stories, making memories, or simply enjoying the view, we wish you a beautiful Father’s Day.

From all of us at the Maritime Museum of San Diego, thank you for being part of the crew.
Happy Father’s Day.

Some pieces of history cannot be replaced once they are gone.

The ships at the Maritime Museum of San Diego are not replicas of a memory. They are real vessels, real classrooms, real connections to the people, journeys, innovations, and sacrifices that helped shape our world.

They need care.
They need preservation.
They need people who believe history is worth protecting.

When you donate to the Maritime Museum of San Diego, you help keep these ships alive for the next child who steps aboard, the next family who discovers something new, and the next visitor who realizes history can still move them.

Do not let history drift away.

Help protect it.
Help preserve it.
Help Keep History Afloat.

Please make a gift today.

Today, the Maritime Museum of San Diego honors and celebrates Juneteenth, a day of freedom, reflection, resilience, and remembrance.

As a Museum dedicated to preserving and sharing maritime history, we recognize that the stories of the sea are vast, powerful, and deeply connected to the many people who helped shape them.

We invite our community to reflect on the important histories, voices, and contributions of Black Americans, including the often-untold stories of Black mariners, sailors, waterfront workers, shipbuilders, explorers, and leaders whose legacies are part of our shared maritime heritage.

Through exhibits like Take Me to the Water, we are proud to help share stories that deserve to be seen, heard, and remembered.

Today and every day, we remain committed to preserving history with care, honesty, and respect.

Happy Juneteenth from the Maritime Museum of San Diego.
