Finished my latest RC crawler. It started out as a VP Phoenix kit I’ve had laying around from a TOF. It came with aluminum portal axle housings.
I went with a Holmes Hobbies 3500kv Puller Pro and Castle Copperhead.
For servos I cheaped out and went with Injora. I’ll probably keep the cheap LP servos for the dig and OD, then swap out the steering servo for something better later.
I’m a Bronco fanatic so it had to have a Bronco body. I went with the HPI body. Then finally decided on a Stroppe Baja Bronco paint theme.

Quick video of the Tonka Dump Truck crawling my rock pile. It’s definitely more of a trail truck than a crawler lol but it’s cool as ice.

It drives now. Goes forward and backwards. Stock steering servo is weak but will work for now. I took it for a test run in my backyard. It’s definitely top heavy, and really front end heavy but it will be fine for cruising around and mild trails.

Magnet cab mounts are done. One probably would have been enough but oh well.

A little more progress on the Tonka Dump Truck. Made a battery tray and mounted the ESC and Receiver. Also made some tabs and attached magnets to them, next I will rivet the tabs onto the back of the cab.

Been working on a new project. Vintage 80’s Tonka Truck Dump Truck. It’s on a SCX10 chassis with old school dump truck axles (original 10.1 axles lol)
I made the cab tilt forward to access the electronics. I’m waiting for a linear actuator to arrive and then I can make the dump bed lift. I need to make a battery tray and mount the esc and receiver under the cab. Also need to make some tabs with magnets to keep the cab closed. It’s big and heavy and I doubt it will crawl great but I think it’s cool as hell.

My new 2.2 crawler I’ve been working on. Redcat Wendigo. Castle Mamba X and Holmes Hobbies Puller Pro 2700kv motor and Holmes Hobbies Sv800 servo. I just finished the custom painted body today. It still needs the small details like grille and drivers heads and stickers.

Capra got a nice refresh! Back to Blue with New aluminum body panels. I ghosted the spider logo onto them. I think it turned out pretty cool.
Also new Treal front aluminum axle housing, and then I put my VP 3 gear transmission in with a 2700kv Holmes Hobbies Puller Pro stubby motor. And lastly new beadlocks with Hyrax tires and Proline dual stage foams.
