This week, a yellow Ducati Panigale V2 S and a yellow Ducati Streetfighter V2 S [pictured] rolled out of CTX Motoworks. Both special ordered. Both going home to riders who knew exactly what they were waiting for.
Ducati is red, and always will be. But yellow has belonged to the brand since 1972, when Borgo Panigale celebrated a historic win at the 200 Miglia di Imola with a yellow-engined 750 Sport. By the 1990s, the color had earned its place in the catalog — worn by the 916, the 996, the 749, the 999, the 1198, more than one generation of Monster, and both the ST2 and ST4.
Now Ducati Yellow is back again — the color a generation of Ducatisti grew up wanting, returning to a lineup that’s been waiting for it.
Some colors don’t retire. They wait their turn.
