🔥 IT FITS… UNTIL YOU OPEN THE THROTTLE. 😳 🔥

This 2024 Camaro SS is getting a Magnuson supercharger setup paired with a Katech 103mm throttle body — but during installation, we caught a fitment issue that could have caused a BIG problem. 👀

When we checked throttle operation, the throttle blade would NOT fully open. It was actually making contact with the supercharger inlet and getting hung up. 🚫

And that’s exactly why we don’t just bolt parts on and send them out the door. 🔧💪

We port-matched the Magnuson supercharger inlet to the diameter of the 103mm throttle body, giving the blade the clearance it needed to open completely and operate correctly. ✅🔥

Performance builds are about more than buying good parts. Fitment matters. Clearance matters. And checking the details REALLY matters. 💯

Sometimes the difference between installed and installed RIGHT is what you catch before the car ever leaves the shop. 😎🏁

🔥 WHEN THE SHIFTER IS THE PROBLEM… IN MORE WAYS THAN ONE. 🔥

This 2006 Pontiac GTO came in with an ATF leak and a drivetrain noise/rattle that needed some investigating. 🔍

Once we got underneath it, the problem started making a lot more sense.

👉 The aftermarket shifter installed on the car was not the correct fit for this transmission.

👉 It wasn’t properly mating and sealing to the transmission, leaving gaps where ATF could leak out. 💧

👉 The shifter also had no proper rubber isolator, allowing normal transmission and gear noise to transfer straight through the shifter and into the cabin.

👉 Add in the rattle from the shifter itself and basically… everything about this setup was working against the car. 😬

💡 HERE’S THE TAKEAWAY:
A shifter isn’t just about how quickly or firmly it changes gears. Correct fitment, sealing and isolation matter. The wrong setup can create leaks, rattles and make normal drivetrain noise sound like a much bigger transmission problem.

🛠️ THE FIX:
We’re replacing it with the correct shifter, properly sealing it to the transmission and adding the appropriate rubber isolation to reduce noise transfer into the cabin.

Sometimes diagnostics isn’t about finding a catastrophic failure. Sometimes it’s finding one incorrect part creating a whole list of problems. 🎯

That’s why we diagnose first and repair second. 🔧

🚨 **NO SHIFT? BET YOU’LL NEVER GUESS WHY.** 👀

This **2012 Camaro** came into Nelson Performance stuck in **limp mode and not shifting.**

This car had been worked on at **several different shops over the years**, and when that’s the case, you never really know what you’re going to find once you start digging. 🔍

Our objective was simple: **figure out why it wouldn’t shift and get it working again.**

We started by checking power at the **TCM connector**.

✅ B+ battery power was present.
❌ Ignition power was NOT.

So we followed the circuit back to the **fuse block** — and that’s where things got interesting.

The circuit was **missing at the X3 connector.** 😳

We ran a new circuit from the fuse block to the TCM connector, restored the proper ignition power supply, and tested it.

🔥 **ALL GEARS SHIFTING.** 🔥

Sometimes the problem isn’t a bad transmission or an expensive part. Sometimes you have to **trace the system, find what’s actually missing, and repair the circuit correctly.**

When a vehicle has passed through multiple hands, diagnostics can turn into a little detective work. 🕵️‍♂️🔧

**That’s why we test before we guess.**

🔧🔥 **TECH TIP SUNDAY: A MISFIRE CODE IS A CLUE — NOT A DIAGNOSIS!** 🔥🔧

Your check engine light comes on. You scan it and see **P0300, P0301, P0302, P0304...**

The computer told you what’s wrong, right?

🚨 **NOT EXACTLY.**

A misfire code tells us the ECM detected a misfire. A cylinder-specific code can point us toward **WHERE** it’s happening—but it doesn’t automatically tell us **WHY.**

There are plenty of possibilities. 👇

⚡ **IGNITION**
Worn plugs, damaged wires, failing coils or other ignition problems.

⛽ **FUEL**
A failing injector, low fuel pressure or another fuel-delivery issue.

🔧 **MECHANICAL / VALVETRAIN**
Low compression, valve problems, a bent pushrod, rocker issue, worn camshaft or failing lifter can all show up as a misfire.

💨 **AIR**
Vacuum leaks and unmetered-air or airflow problems can contribute too.

And sometimes the first problem you find **isn’t the only problem.** 👀

That’s why proper diagnostics matter.

Throwing plugs, coils, injectors and other parts at a vehicle hoping something fixes it can get expensive FAST. 💰

A proper diagnostic process means using the codes and live data, testing the systems involved and following the evidence to find the actual failure.

A scanner gives us information.

🧠 **Diagnostics tells us what that information actually means.**

So when you see **P0300 or P030X:**

🚫 **DON’T GUESS.**
🔍 **DIAGNOSE.**

Fix the **cause**, not just the symptom. 💪🔧

This **2013 Chevy Avalanche** came to us carrying a little baggage. 😬

It had been **run hard**, and regular oil changes definitely hadn’t been high on the priority list. Unfortunately, engines keep receipts. 🧾😂

So we got to work. 🔧💪

🔥 **GOOD PARTS DON’T MEAN MUCH IF THE TRUCK DOESN’T RUN LIKE IT SHOULD.** 🔥

This **2015 Silverado** came to Nelson Performance with only about **4,000 miles on the build**. It had already been tuned elsewhere, but the owner just wasn’t satisfied with the way it was running.

And when you look at this parts list, you can understand why he wanted MORE out of it. 👀

💥 LT1 6.2L Crate Engine
💥 BTR L83 Stage 2 Camshaft

That’s a LOT of good hardware. Now it needed a calibration that brought the combination together. 💻🏁

We went back through the tune and dialed in the **engine and transmission calibration** for the actual setup in the truck, with the goal of getting the performance, drivability and response the owner expected when he built it.

Because the parts list can look great on paper…
