🚨**Transmission Rebuild Project**⚙️

2010 Nissan Rogue 2.5L CVT

This Project Was Quite Interesting Start To Finish. Customer Came From TN To Pick Up A Nissan Rogue From Atlanta, GA. On The Rode Back To TN, The Transmission Completely Failed Causing Them To Be Stuck In Birmingham, AL. They Gave Me A Call & Ended Up Leaving The Car With Me & Continued Home.

So My Journey Began By Removing The Transmission & Inspecting The Internals. Upon Inspection I Found TONS Of Metal In The Transmission Pan 😬 With That Discovery, I Then Had To Figure Out Where The Metal Came From. So I Continued Disassembly & Ran Into The Transmission Oil Pump. The Valve That Regulates The Oil Pressure Inside The Pump Housing Was Totally Scarred Up Causing A Lack Of Pressure & Lubrication. Digging Deeper, I Also Found That The Transmission Chain Was Worn Extremely Well On The Edges Due To Poor Pressure & Lubrication. So Metal Was Everywhere In This Transmission, Explaining Why The Pan Magnets Were Full Of Metal Shavings. 🤦‍♂️

So I Repaired The Chain & Gears, Replaced Filters & Seals, Clutch Packs, Oil Cooler, Torque Converter & Also Rebuilt The Valve Body That Lives Inside The Transmission, Because It Too Was Full Of Metal! Resealed & Pressure Tested Everything & Got It Installed, Re-Programmed, & Now It Accelerates As It Normally Should. Did An Engine Oil Change & Replaced A Motor Mount That It Desperately Needed. Customer Was Finally Able To Take The Car To Tennessee & Deliver It To His Daughter As First Planned.

Rebuilt Not Replaced, Happy Customer, Rebuild Complete 👨‍🔧💯

- I Enjoy Doing Transmission & Engine Rebuilds But Please Avoid 08-11 Nissan, Jeep, & Mitsubishi Automobiles With The Jatco CVT Transmission. They’re Known To Fail If You Don’t Change The Fluid Every 30k mi. This One Had 196k 🤷‍♂️ Hence The Reason Why Rebuilding It Was Our Best & Only Option For Our Customer’s Daughter. ✌️

🏎 Working On One Of My Favorites Today 🇺🇸. Not Much To Say About These, The 2015 Has Been A Pretty Solid Year For The Newer Camaro’s. Until You’re Faced With The Interior A/C Control Problems, But That’ll Be A Topic For Another Day. 🤦‍♂️

Customer Complaint Was That There Was A Loud “Squealing” Sound When Braking, But Only After Driving, It Became Very Annoying & Louder In Drive-Thru’s. Once I Arrived, I Found That The Brake Pad Did In Fact Still Have Some Material Left But It Finally Hit Its Heat Range & Glazed The Pad. Causing The Pads To Wear Even Harder On The Rotors & Eventually Have The Car Sounding Like A Bus When Approaching A Stop 😬. I Installed New Rotors & Pads With Grease. Now It Comes To A Stop Perfectly Sound As It Should Always Be.

New Brake Pads & Rotors, No More Squeak. Happy Customer. Complete👨‍🔧💯

Customer Complaint Was That There Was A “Scrubbing” Sound When The Brakes Were Applied. Once I Arrived, I Found That The Brake Pad Ran Out Of Material & Rubbed Into The Rotor 😬 So With That Condition, Just Pads Wasn’t An Option, I Installed New Rotors, Wear Sensors, & Pads With Grease Now It Stops Perfectly Smooth As It Should.

🛠 It’s A Dodge Ball Day Today. Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep, & Ram Are All The Same Layout. Things Will Tend To Break Or Leak, But Overall They’re “Alright” Cars, You Just Have To Keep An Eye Under The Hood Every So Often. 🤷‍♂️

Radiator Replacement

Customer Complaint Was That There Wasn’t Any Heat. Once I Arrived, I Found The Coolant To Be Pretty Low. Coolant Never Just Disappears, Usually There’s A Leak Somewhere. In My Case I Found The Coolant Was Leaking From The Side Of The Radiator. Installed New Radiator, Pressure Test Held Fine, And The Heat Was Back Blowing Fire.

Customer Had A Massive Oil Leak Coming From The Valve Cover, Leaking Onto The Exhaust Causing Light Smoke & A Smoke Smell. Over Time, The Cost Of Having To Buy/Add Oil Will Eventually Catch Up To The Price Of Getting The Leak Fixed. I Also Recommended A Spark Plug Replacement While The Coil Packs Were Removed.

The Spark Plugs Typically Last 60k-75k Mi. & These Were At Their Mark. Air Filters Typically Last 3yrs, This One Was 5yrs Old So We Got Rid Of That As Well. And To Top It Off We Changed The Oil & Filter. On Some Of These Audi’s & VW You Always Want To Use Quality Castrol Oil & Replace The Crush Washer Sold At The Dealership. If It Has Been Used Too Many Times It Will Definitely LEAK. 🥴😒
