SALEM — The Salem Police Department has received a donation aimed at improving officer safety from Salem Stadium Chevrolet.
“We are deeply appreciative of this contribution from Stadium Chevrolet and blessed the Salem community has so many generous people looking out for our department,” said Police Chief J.T. Panezott in press release regarding the donation.
Stadium Chevrolet donated 25 brand new Team Wendy Exfil Rail 3.0 Ballistic helmets to the department “to support local initiatives aimed at enhancing police officer safety, improving public safety, and strengthening community relationships.”
According to the release, this donation is part of a larger effort “to support law enforcement agencies across the country and ensure they have the tools, training, and resources necessary to protect their communities.”
Team Wendy ballistic helmets meet the National Institute of Justice’s Level III-A standard and feature a hybrid composite shell for increased strength and a unique geometry for optimal fit. This particular helmet has a mounting system that is “significantly lighter than the few helmets that the department previously used.”
“Stadium Chevrolet is proud to contribute to the safety and well-being of the Salem community by supporting the Salem Police Department. They emphasize that businesses, organizations, and individuals have a shared responsibility to help provide the resources needed to ensure our police officers are well-equipped to serve,” noted the release.
