With so many recent posts with laminate sails I was asked if we built white cruising sails? lol. Yes, we actually build far more cruising sails than race ones. Busy with a lot of race sails as the season is just starting.
This is a mizzen for the Giorgetti Magrini 100 foot ketch 'Wisdom'. It is a teaching vessel operated by The Sail Futures Academy whose campuses are right here in St Petersburg. Made from Contender 10.52 high aspect premium dacron with a second ply on the leech luff and foot. Offshore, circumnavigation level build.

These are fun sails. This is a jib to one of the class A Bahamian Sloops. Bahamian sailing crafts are unique workboats built for the shallow waters, coral reefs and trade winds of the Bahamas. Traditionally used for travel and inter-island cargo. Today there are rivalries between the different teams and islands which makes for some very competitive but fun National regattas.
The sails are presently constructed of a unique woven material that is a hybrid of dacron and acrylic fibers. No tell tales allowed. I was to understand that Florida is just close enough to the Bahamas, that they allow some sails to be built here.

We rotate interns every semester from a very unique marine based school, SailFutures Academy, right here in St Petersburg. It's my hope and belief that many of these young folks will continue to sail for rest of their lifetimes.

This week's big job. A radial Seawind 1160 square top mainsail, 822 sq ft, 3reefs, Dimension Polyant 393 HydraNet radial (woven dynemma). One of the world's most advanced and expensive sail materials. All panels were laser cut in house. Eliminates fraying and fuses all the fiber ends together. Fairing the luff curve in the picture. Not easy material to cut with scissors, lol

Okay okay, I guess due to many requests. I shall post more pictures of sails we are building. New Beneteau 41 in mast furling mainsail, 8.52 oz premium Contender dacron, WeatherMax clew cover, sail number and double tail Beneteau seahorse insignia.
