Today we would like to honor a very special man that we lost this past week, Gene Ell.
Gene's father Art Ell, Sr. founded and started our family business Saint Peters Garage in 1920. Gene and his brother Art, Jr. worked for their dad and then eventually took over the business with many years of service before passing it down to the next generation, and then on to the next.
Gene was an integral part of the shop. He was a hard worker; a trusted, devoted, proud business owner. He was a true staple of St. Peters Garage, teaching his trade and remaining humble in his sucess.
He was more than a business owner to us though.
He is a son, a brother, and uncle, a friend. He is genuine, kind, full of wit, well respected; simply put, an all around good man. His stories were the highlight to anyone's day, his presence always put a smile on your face, and at an after hours gathering he would find joy in making and pouring you one of the best Manhattans.
To know him, is to love him. At 92 years young, he lead by example and built a legacy not only in business, but personally as well that is truly honorable. An example that we will strive to follow, a legacy that we will keep alive in each of us today, tomorrow, and for generations to come.
He will be greatly missed, remembered daily, and always be a special part of The Shop Crew.
