The history of OnStar, 30 years of keeping you safe!
OnStar was created in 1996 by GM and Electronic Data Systems and launched at the Chicago Auto Show. OnStar was first available in the 1997 Cadillac Deville, Seville, and Eldorado! Between 2002-2006 on Star was available in certain Volkswagen, Acura, Audi, and Isuzu models.
OnStar was adamant to keep up with changing technology; in June 2021 they released the "Guardian App". The app gave mobile crash response, roadside assistance, emergency services, and location status. To further the safety features OnStar implemented "Rapid Deploy". This sends real life crash notifications to local 911 centers. Rapid Deploy also sends injury severity predictions, location of crash sites, and other vital details!
OnStar has assisted in over 180,000 crashes.
