For select 997.2 and 991.1-generation 911s, along with 987.2 and 981 Boxster and Cayman models, Porsche has expanded its PCCM Plus retrofit options.

That means compatible cars can gain features such as wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto through a system designed to complement the Porsche interior.

WE WANT TO SEE THE FILTER

When we perform maintenance on a Porsche, the old parts can sometimes tell us as much as the new ones.

The oil filter is a good example.

It's not simply something to remove and throw away without thought.

Condition matters.

Contamination matters.

What we find—or don't find—can become another piece of information about what's happening inside the engine.

That's our mentality throughout the shop.

Pay attention.

Look at what the car is showing you.

Don't rush past clues because the next job is waiting.

Porsches communicate.

You just need people willing to listen.

Before buying coilovers...

Before adding bigger sway bars...

Before changing wheels...

Before chasing horsepower...

There's something worth asking:

Is the car performing the way Porsche originally intended?

A 15- or 20-year-old Porsche may be riding on tired dampers, worn bushings, softened mounts, aging tires, and an alignment that's nowhere near ideal.

Restore those fundamentals and something interesting happens.

The car comes alive again.

The steering gets sharper.

The chassis settles.

The drivetrain feels tighter.

The Porsche you thought needed modification may have simply needed restoration of its original performance.
