Happy New Year!!

We are so excited for this new year, I couldn't hold off anymore to share the good news. Had a great talk with the boss/ business partner and we have decided to implement a new business model. As of January 1st 2107, JHR's will be by appointment only. We are now in the business of buying and restoring vehicles for private sale. This will allow me greater flexibility with my scheduling and much more artistic freedom on the builds. There is a few final jobs that will be finished up by the end of this month...and then we're done.

The shop will be basically closed for the month of February to re-arrange, re-tool, gear up, and have a massive shop clean up. I'm finally taking the big leap and doing what has been kicked around since I opened my doors in 2008. Having the shop and being my own boss was the best career choice I've ever made. I'm so very grateful to my family & friends for all your support over the years. I'm sure many of you remember how bad I wanted this, and how hard the first years were.

I want to acknowledge all of my customers and all the jobs we have done over the past eight years. From the smallest ones like, "hey Jay can you weld this back together real quick?" To the largest like Sandy & Mike, who picked up their brand new 1966 Ford Mustang GT. Sandy was so happy she was in tears! I might of had something in my eye that day as well. You have helped propel the shop and have had an immeasurable influence on its growth. I want to express my most sincerest appreciation to you all for allowing me to do what I love for a living. This gives me such an sense of accomplishment, and it is hard to describe exactly what this means to me.......Thank you

Here is to 2017! Let's rock!!!

It's been a real roller coaster of a year at JHR's. We have had a few up & downs, but all is well and we're as busy as ever. I would like to give thanks to following folks that have made it all happen. To my rock star of a wife, that manages her job, takes care of our girls, and helps keep my sanity. To my beautiful girls that give me the motivation for all of this. To my family and friends that lend an open ear, and unwavering support. To my guys that put in so much time and late nights to help out. And lastly to all of our customers with the jobs both big & small that allow us keep doing what we love so much. I could not have done this without you. Thank you all. Looking forward to 2017 and excited to see what is in store.

From the guy's at Jay's Hot Rods, wishing you a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and a healthy, happy, and prosperous New Year!

I need to post this and reach as many of my friends, family, customers, fellow hot rod lovers, and anyone who sympathizes with this situation.

I recently hired back on a guy named Andy Holmes. He is a great guy, hard worker, motivated, an excellent fabricator, welder, family man, father, and a Veteran. This Monday the 7th, Andy was on his way to work riding his motorcycle just like any other day. He was less than a mile from the shop when somebody pulled out in front of him. He was unable to avoid getting hit and has been injured. He must have several surgeries, countless down time, and will be unable to work doing what he loves for quite a while. Andy's gal Christina has established a go fund me account to help them during this time so close to the holidays. Hopefully this will assist them to get the essentials they so desperately need. Please check out this link below and give what you can. Thank you

Hello friends and family, As most of you know, Andrew was in a severe motorcycle accident on Monday November 7. He is currently completely out of commission and will be for quite some time. He is our only source of income. I unfortunately am unable to work due to his inability to function on his...

I enjoyed this Memorial Day weekend as we all should...spending time with my family and friends. I was constantly reminding myself why we all have the chance to do so. I'll always have the deepest admiration for those have served, protected, and given their lives for our great Nation.

From the guy's at Jay's Hot Rods...we thank you.

These two Magnum wagons showed up at the shop yesterday. They stopped by to pick up a set of our rear adjustable camber links. You gotta love a laid out wagon.

I know it's not 'throw back day" but I recently found a very old pic that reminds me why I love doing this everyday. Can't recall what year maybe 92' or 93' living with my two bro's downtown off of 23rd & T. This was the last day I owned this beauty. Of all the cars I've owned over the years, this one I miss the most. 1966 Chevelle that I bought out of some guys side yard for $400. A couple of years later and a lot of hard work and cash, I had built a "Pro-Touring" car before there was such a thing. Nasty little high reving 327 Chevy, big lift Lunati solid camshaft, open plenum intake, single Holley carb, MSD ignition, and a Richmond 5 Speed. The chassis was totally upgraded, stripped down interior, big sway bars, Moog big block springs, disc brakes, and a nice set of Wheel Vintiques Ralley's and BFG low pros. It could handle, stop, and accelerate as well as any car back then. Might have to build another one someday......if its ok with the boss.

We finally shipped the Nova tonight. Very glad to be done and to see the owner so happy & excited to drive it. I'll post the dyno runs next week. This bad boy put down 454HP and 403Ft lbs to the deck! Put some road miles on it yesterday, super pleased with the car as a whole. Has good street manners, incredibly stiff chassis, it stops, steers, handles, and accelerates like crazy. I'm loving the T-56 Magnum trans in this thing. The car straight out stomps...very fast!

I love Moroso products, especially their oil pans. We use them on almost all our builds. Word to the wise... replace the Moroso O-ring with a Fel-Pro O-ring for LS engine pick up tubes. Apparently they fail. We were delivering our latest build and oil pressure decided to drop off at idle. Had to pull the engine/trans just to replace this $2.87 part. Lame design flaw GM. Got it fixed, but what a speed bump.

As I enjoy this day with my family I'm constantly reminded why we all have the chance to do so. Brave, selfless, and honorable acts by countless faces and names that I will never know. They gave their lives and made the ultimate sacrifice so that we may go on.

" A Nation That Does Not Honor It's Heros, Will Not Long Endure." - President Abraham Lincoln. From the guys at Jay's Hot Rods we thank you all.

We got this little beauty in a few months ago for what started out as a small build. The goal was to rebuild all the factory suspension, swap in a 6.0L LS Engine, upgrade the wheel & tire combo, and have a nice daily driver. His family has now dubbed this simple project. It has had a massive "Domino" effect. One thing has lead to another in a big way! The existing 400 ci small block and TKO 600 were removed. All of the original suspension was discarded. A complete SpeedTech Track Time package was ordered. It was upgraded with ATS tall sealed hub spindles, solid aluminum body bushings, and 14" Wilwood brakes on all corners. The engine was treated to a Z06 cam upgrade, ported heads, Comp Cams valvetrain kit, SLP timing chain and oil pump, new LS pan, and a custom exhaust. The trans will be bumped up to a T56 MAGNUM, QuickTime bellhousing, and Mccleod twin disc clutch. The diff is now a 9" housing with 3.89 gears, a true-track posi, and a torque spine. We need some room for big rubber so DSE mini tubs and frame connectors will be installed. Rolling stock will be Falken RT-615K 315/30/18's out back and 275/35/18's in front. Not sure on wheels yet, but I'm hoping for HRE's or maybe some Forgelines. This baby will be done and ready to kill it by summer time. Check back for progress pics soon.
