James’ 987.1 boxter went home to enjoy this beautiful late fall weather after some preventative maintenance.
-Inspected IMS Bearing(This is the larger non serviceable bearing, so removed the grease seal to allow adequate lubrication and inspected its condition. This still involves removing the support fl**ge for the bearing which requires removal of the timing chain tensioners
-Replaced the rear main seal
-Replaced the clutch and flywheel
-Replaced the failing oil air separator and its associated hoses(A substantially easier repair with the transmission already removed)
-Liqui Moly oil change
-Prior to repairs, performed the pre inspection process we outlined in an earlier video we posted a while back. Checked cam phase angles with Piwis, dropped the oil pan to inspect for foreign metallic debris or chain guide debris, and scoped the cylinders with a camera to check for bore scoring.
