Customer called me about an issue that his employee was having with his truck. Said it was jerking and shutting off when he came to stop signs and stop lights. Well, just hearing those basic symptoms pointed me to a bad timing chain!
I got there and ran some tests in it. Had multiple codes with fuel system lien, oil pressure valve solenoid stuck on/high, cam shaft position sensor, evap solenoid etc
Had a really hard start, and you could hear some rattling on the lower front of the engine.
Long story short, the primary timing chain guide disintegrated and allowed the chain to have Hella slack and caused the chains to grind away at the oil pump(steel is harder than aluminum)
New timing chains, guides, cam shaft sensor, verified that the camshaft sensor and evap solenoid was bad, replaced those too, and 10 hours later, truck is running smoother than your wife's legs! This little 4.3 V6 had alot of power tho, was surprised!
