Pretty crazy June XDA race for me. A lot of folks don't know that motorcycle building and racing is not my "day job". In real life I work in the corporate finance world and month-end/year-end is tough for me to go racing. This past race, Amber Williford and 3 of my girls we down in FL for a dance competition and one of my boys was at the beach with a friend. To top it off, I had to work in the office until late Friday evening and missed Q1 for Jamie Lopes (sorry Jamie) and myself.
With weather threatening Sunday, the XDA made a decision to do 1 qualifier and finish the race on Saturday! We came off the trailer on Saturday with a "soft" tune up to get in the field with a 6.65. It was a long day of racing, but I've always said I'd rather be lucky than good. I had a few passes where I should have lost due to shifting issues down track, but my opponents had even bigger issues. The transmission finally locked up in the semis and I had to change a motor as we headed into the finals. Fortunately, we got all the motor in and a decent enough tune up to win the race and run the quickest ET of the weekend in the finals (6.43). Good job to the DME Racing crew and Mark Rendeluk on another final round appearance.
Great XDA event and prep Jason Miller and the whole XDA staff.
Huge thanks to class sponsor Orient Express Racing!!!
Many thanks to my sponsors and supporters!
