David, our resident Jeep specialist fixed another one. This was tricky with a common outcome.
Misfire cylinder number 5 DTC.
After verifying all the basics and even inspecting for a broken valve spring he then connected the lab scope to the CPS. While it’s a very common failure part the symptoms did not seem to coincide. But the lab scope showed an irratic pattern initially. After changing out the CPS he then had a very steady square wave pattern. Nice work Dave! We don’t just throw parts at cars. We do our best to pinpoint the failure with testing and hard data. The video shows the good wave pattern.

I know some people avoid shops because they think they just get upsold on items not needed.
But then there’s the people who actually want to know what is wrong with their vehicle and what the costs would be to repair it. We try to be very though and tend to find random things here and there. But telling a customer it appears you almost had your catalytic converter stolen was a first.
We plan to tighten up the bolts and remove the tool that was being used to remove the converter… But remember theives are still out there looking to make a free come up. Fortunately this was a fail for the thief(s). Plus I did gain a new old worn out snap on snap on ratchet out of the deal.

Another beautiful vintage Mustang we had the pleasure to work on. This is a 66 that was a one owner car. Bought new and daily driven most of its life. It was then restored years back and now the son of the original owner is its caretaker.
We installed a front disk brake swap kit and replaced a couple loose tie rod ends found during our inspection.

We’ve seen A LOT of weird things and usually something new we’ve never seen in the mix as well. We rarely are amazed at our findings but it does happen. Here’s A few pictures of various jobs from last week. Broken items and upgrades.
