U.S. Route 62 is a prominent United States highway that spans approximately 2,248 miles, stretching from the Mexican border at El Paso, Texas, to the Canadian border at Niagara Falls, New York. As one of the few highways that connects the border of Mexico directly to the border of Canada, it serves as a vital cross-country link traversing diverse terrains including the deserts of the Southwest, the plains of Oklahoma, the Ozark Mountains Arkansas and Missouri, and the industrial landscapes of the Ohio River Valley. The route is highly unique because it is the only highway in the U.S. Route system to intersect with every major north-south interstate highway east of the Rocky Mountains. Although it has undergone various realignments since its establishment in 1930, it remains a significant artery for regional transit and long-distance travel, offering a scenic and historically rich path through the heart of the country.
