This week Clint, Robert, and Kenneth hit the road, left Texas, and attended a 2-Day training event focused on advanced electrical diagnostics. They were so excited to have the chance to better themselves and be able to offer our customers even more.

No matter how long you’ve been doing something, there’s always more you can learn, or learn to do better. And we are blessed to be able to invest in our team members in ways like this. We can’t wait to see what all they bring back with them!

We get asked a lot if we work on the 3.0L Duramax.

Oh, we do. And we’ve been seeing more and more of these in the shop lately. The most common issues we’re running into are electrical problems related to kinked and rubbed through engine harnesses, injector issues, and emissions/aftertreatment problems.

This particular harness had multiple overlays already from the dealer and was still catching new problems everytime they turn around. We are going in with a brand new harness with new routing and protection to prevent any further rub-spots.

It’s true sometimes we are able to save the truck before complete contamination. However on this one, the DEF had already passed the pump and injectors and was in the return lines. At that point, there’s no other option besides replacing the fuel system.. a half-assed repair at this stage cause even more harm by wrecking his emissions filters and then he would likely end up at the shop again to the fuel system in a week. We have seen this play out many times when customers try to choose a cheaper option.

We will get him repaired with a new fuel system and back on the road.

These days, a code scanner can only give you the tip of the iceberg.

A fault code describes a condition, but it can’t explain why it’s happening, or what’s causing it to happen.
