This week is officially North Carolina’s “Slow Down Move Over” Awareness Week and it’s bigger than towing. It’s about protecting every person working on the side of the road trying to make it home to their family.
🚨 Tow operators
🚔 Law enforcement
🚑 EMS
🚒 Firefighters
🦺 DOT & utility crews
Under North Carolina General law drivers are required to:
➡️ Move over one lane when approaching stopped emergency or service vehicles with flashing lights if it is safe to do so.
⬇️ If you cannot safely move over, you are required to slow down and proceed with caution.
A violation can result in a minimum $250 fine but more importantly, one careless moment can change lives forever.
We see it every day firsthand. Cars flying by inches away while people are outside working wrecks, helping stranded motorists, changing tires, and clearing highways.
Slow down. Move over.
Not because it’s a slogan… because somebody’s life depends on it.
