The wife and I set in a zoom meeting with Mr. Barrett Hepburn this evening, as he designed the wrap for the “Caddy Crawler”. Very cool experience and he can bring ideas to life quick! We might have been a PITA but he wasn’t showing it. Still pictures doesn’t do this chrome finish any justice but I can’t wait to see the completed project!

Excited and feeling very fortunate to be able to have someone bring me a new KRX 1000 chassis to cut up and fine tune my prototype removable on something that’s not beat! I was expecting this to take 3 machines to find the factory tolerances. I can’t mention any names yet but I have 1 possibly 2 companies ready to work with me on a couple subcomponents.

New forward A arms and new 37” Zilla shoes! We’ll come back to this machine but I needed the sleeves out of the factory A arms for a jig! 😂 I sold my cage and we’ll be making some changes to the design after I get everything squared away for the Rock Crusher skid.

It turned into a mad rush and 3 nights past 1a.m. to get the Kawasaki KRX 1000 back together so we could make our trip to Tennessee last weekend. This is an R&D project that’s making its way to production. There’s a few kinks to work out before manufacturing but I went out of my way to make sure this took a beating last weekend. A few times at speed. I cut the bottom out of our KRX back at the engine and transmission area and made a removable skid with the crossmembers built into it. I haven’t tested the theory of whether the engine and trans drops out the bottom faster than it the top but I will in the future.

You Rhino guys give me a hectic ride this week for a part time job but I thank you! This is the best part time job a guy can have… Started from raw material on Monday and everyone’s orders should be out tomorrow. I’ve decided it time to buy weldable rust preventer and build stock in bigger numbers. You don’t call for months, then 10 people call in a week. Back in the day I just kept a constant build pattern. We will still get you fixed up with a permanent solution to a plagued problem and shipping may speed up in the near futture.

I’ve needed to make a mount for our StarLink dish in Tennessee but I wanted to wait until I had cameras bought so I could make the mount multi purpose. The camera I chose has a solar panel for charging. Weds after the day job, I designed one in a manor I could bolt the flanges to the weld table, cut the plates out on the plaz table, started to cut the tubes out on the rotary cutter and had some machine problems. Picked up where I left off on Thurs evening and finished it in time to hull it down for paint and installation today in Tennessee. If it wasn’t for the machine issue, it would have been done quick in one short evening. Eye’s in the sky and StarLink is much faster when it’s not sitting beside the building and trees, in the stones. 😂 This was one of those tests that I time and see how quick I can complete but….. Machine failures happen or I wouldn’t have my day job!

This is kind of a split post between businesses but you’ll start to see why in future months to come. This shelf goes above the front door header in our offroad rental in Tennessee. There’s a 100amp blue tooth speaker that goes on the short side and another that goes on the other side with the StarLink WiFi booster and power supply, TV in the middle. There was a few firsts in this project but turned great for a place called Rough Around The Edges. The main tube was cut right after I put my rotary cutter on water, 2nd piece cut actually and the 1st time using Steel F/X patina metal dies. I had 3 small tests with the dies before this 8’ piece. There’s many more pieces to come with this same theme! The place will have an industrial/offroad fabrication theme running throughout it for many memories to be had!!
