Earlier this week we were called out to diagnose a beautiful 2020 Regal 42 Grand Salon equipped with Volvo Penta D6-IPS500 engines. The customer reported a steering system failure on the PODS, and our scan revealed 15 history codes in the control module—this one was shaping up to be a tough challenge.

Digging in, we noticed the POD control module was only seeing 11.5 volts on our meter, while the engine voltage was at 13.5 volts. We knew we were on the right track. After carefully tracing wiring and pulling access covers, we discovered the culprit: a circuit breaker wire that was extremely loose and barely making connection.

A small issue like that can easily be overlooked and often leads to unnecessary part replacements or misdiagnoses. Instead, we were able to pinpoint the root cause in just half a day—saving the customer time, money, and frustration. Needless to say, they were thrilled with the outcome!
