EDSEL TECHNICAL ELEMENTS will be Center Stage in Roanoke!
Technical knowledge, hands-on learning and good old-fashioned Edsel know-how will take center stage at the EOC Eastern National Meet in Roanoke! We’re especially pleased to announce that TELETOUCH GURU Mike Brogan will be joining us as a special guest for the meet. Mike has become one of the go-to authorities on Edsel’s fascinating—and sometimes temperamental—Teletouch transmission control system. His experience speaks for itself: Mike has refurbished more than 700 Teletouch Shift Motors! During the meet, he’ll present a special seminar devoted to all things Teletouch, giving members an opportunity to better understand how the system operates, what commonly goes wrong, and what can be done to keep it functioning properly. Whether you’ve owned a Teletouch-equipped Edsel for decades or have always wondered exactly what is happening when you push those buttons in the center of the steering wheel, this promises to be one seminar you won’t want to miss.
We’re also planning to put a greater emphasis on technical seminars and mechanical topics throughout the Roanoke meet. One of the unique resources available to us is the Garage at Edsel Archives, which includes a large mechanical work area complete with an automotive lift. We plan to make use of that space by offering a limited number of opportunities for members to bring an Edsel over to the Garage and put it on the lift. This won’t be a full-service repair shop, but rather a chance to get underneath a car, take a closer look at a particular concern and discuss what may be happening with fellow Edsel owners who have years of hands-on experience. Sometimes simply being able to get a car in the air and have several knowledgeable sets of eyes looking at it can answer questions that have been lingering for years.
That’s exactly the spirit we want these technical portions of the Eastern National Meet to capture: Edsel owners helping Edsel owners. Our cars are now approaching seven decades old, and preserving the mechanical knowledge required to maintain them is every bit as important as preserving the cars themselves. The Roanoke meet will give longtime experts a chance to share what they’ve learned while giving newer owners an opportunity to ask questions, see these systems up close and gain greater confidence in maintaining their own Edsels. Between Mike Brogan’s special Teletouch seminar, additional mechanical discussions and the hands-on opportunities at the Garage at Edsel Archives, Roanoke won’t just be a place to show our Edsels—it will be a place to learn more about them, understand them and help keep them on the road for generations to come.
Plus special guest speaker RONNIE PENNEMPEDE who’s father was the Edsel Dealer in Morristown, NJ will be joining us as he shares his EDSEL memories — and salesman shpeal with us!
