Window stuck down. Rain in the forecast.

When a power window won’t go up, or drops into the door with a grinding sound, the glass often isn’t the problem. It’s the motor or the regulator, the part that actually moves the glass.

It’s one of the jobs people don’t expect from an auto glass shop. We handle it, along with door glass, rear windows, quarter glass, and side mirrors.

It’s not always the windshield.

On a tractor or combine, the side and rear cab glass take a beating too. A branch, a stalk, a rock thrown up in the field. Once a panel cracks or goes out, the cab is open to dust and weather for the rest of the season.

We replace cab glass on farm equipment where it sits: the field, the barn, or the shop yard. Tractors, combines, sprayers, and the pickup that hauls everything else.

Inspection sticker due soon? Look at your windshield before the station does.

Not every chip or crack is an automatic fail in Virginia. How big the damage is and where it sits both matter. Something small and low on the glass may pass. The same chip in the driver’s line of sight may not.

Your crew can’t run a loader with a cracked cab window. Well, they can. They just shouldn’t.

Rocks, debris, and tight job sites are hard on equipment glass. When a cab window breaks, we come to the job site and replace it there, so the machine goes back to work instead of sitting on a trailer.

Window stuck halfway down with rain in the forecast?

That's usually the motor or the regulator behind the door panel, not the glass itself. We replace both. Same for door glass, quarter glass, rear windows, and side mirrors.

Lane departure warning. Automatic emergency braking. Adaptive cruise. Rain sensing wipers.

On most newer vehicles, all of those depend on a camera mounted to the windshield. Replace the glass without recalibrating, and those systems can be pointed slightly wrong without ever throwing a warning light.
