Here is a prime example of why we do not like using customer supplied parts “in most cases”. We know you can buy stuff on on the internet for cheaper and we understand wanting to save some cash.
But more times than not you’re getting just that…..a cheaper product. In this cases the customer supplied us with the parts which were off brand gaskets, seals and tensioner pads. The bike came in because it was blowing oil out of the air cleaner. We found the China umbrella seals in the breather tore. Once we test rode the bike the cam chest sounded noisy once it was warm. Tore the cover off to find more of these China parts that failed in a short time. When you buy parts through the shop we A: use quality parts. B: we know what parts to use and not to use. And C: if there is in fact an issue were to come about we can get stuff covered under warranty. Just some insite on the ole saying “ buy once cry once”
