In memory of Dolly Parton:

In 1971, Custom Coach (a division of Farber Specialty Vehicles since 2002) built Porter Wagoner’s tour bus, which served as the backdrop for many of Dolly Parton's early years on the road. When she struck out on her own in 1974, she returned to Custom Coach to purchase her very first solo home on wheels.

These photos offer a rare glimpse inside that sanctuary and some of the original hand-drawings of the build. It featured a kitchen, a quiet place to write, and a sleeping spaces for up to six people.

Dolly always preferred the grounded rhythm of the road over flying, famously explaining: "I'm like my daddy. I don't want to go no higher up than pulling corn and no lower down than pickin' taters."

Rest easy, Dolly. Thank you for the songs, the miles, and the heart you put into both.
