My personal opinion is that pulling your torsion bars and cutting your stock spring plates for air ride is silly. Instead, I suggest adjustable spring plates for multiple reasons not only do they allow you to keep your torsion bars in because you can set them at their lowest point then let the spring plate themselves float, same as having no torsion bars. If you ever need your torsion bars (bag failure or air leak) you can just use the adjusters to catch the torsion bars and drive home.
Notched and extended spring plates and dropped spring plates both allow you to set your toe in the rear correctly. No dropped plates aren’t both dropped and extended, anyone who would say that is dumb and didn’t do their research. 🤣 🥱🥱
If you were to just notch your stock (60 plus year old) spring plates that’s not only potentially dangerous but does not allow you to bring your axle back far enough to set your toe correctly (especially on really early plates with holes instead of slots). I only assume that people on air ride want to drive their cars low not just lower them at car shows. But I could be wrong I’m no pro. My comments are open and I don’t delete people’s comments I don’t agree with so please add to or disagree if you like. My parts have continued to evolve over time through trial and error and research, not only from driving my own VWs but from loyal customers and friends.
Also, I am friends with most other suspension guys in the business and also lowrider, off-road, rock crawling and racing suspension builders. On top of that I’m a certified welder who was an ironworker for 20 years, my welds hold up the buildings you walk and drive on, I build all my parts (I do t buy parts and slap a sticker on to resale for 2-3 times the price), I take all my orders, ship all my parts…. I let my parts and reputation speak for themselves, I would never intentionally s**t on others to build myself up, I will however always stand up for and behind my parts.
Have a great day. 😍
