Customer stated their car smells “sweet”...

Turns out coolant smells sweet, and when it leaks inside your dash, it can cause some issues.

This one was a leaking heater core. Coolant was getting into the cabin, fogging up the windows, and leaving a sticky film on the glass. Breathing those fumes every day isn’t great either.

If your car smells like maple syrup with the heat on, your windows keep fogging for no reason, or you’re topping off coolant and can’t find a leak under the hood, have it looked at before it gets worse. A small leak now is a lot cheaper than an overheated engine later.

Most people don’t think about their brakes until something sounds wrong. By then, you’re usually past pads and into rotors.

Here’s what to watch for:

Squealing or squeaking when you stop. That’s often the wear indicator telling you the pads are getting thin.
Grinding. Metal on metal. This one gets expensive fast if you ignore it.
A soft or spongy pedal, or one that sinks closer to the floor than it used to.
Vibration or pulsing in the pedal or steering wheel when braking. Usually warped or uneven rotors.
The car pulling to one side when you stop.
Your brake warning light is on.

Misfire on this one came down to a spark plug you’d never catch at a glance. The porcelain was cracked, so instead of firing where it should, the spark was arcing out through the ceramic inside the valve cover.

Side by side, the good plug and the bad one look almost identical. That’s why we pull them and check every one for cracks, breaks, and carbon tracing instead of guessing.

Spark plugs have a service interval for a reason. Depending on the manufacturer it’s 60k, 90k, or even 120k miles. Stick to it. Putting it off is how a cheap maintenance item turns into a bigger repair.
