The flow test is the most important step in the thermal DPF cleaning process — and one of the most commonly skipped.

Here's what it does: measures how freely exhaust passes through the filter. Run it before the clean, run it again after. Compare the numbers. That's your proof the process worked.

A filter that looks clean and flows clean are not the same thing.

For shops offering DPF cleaning, before-and-after flow testing is what separates you from the competition. It's documentation your customers can see, understand, and trust.

Some shops de-ash a filter, call it clean, and send it back. No bake. No flow test. No documentation. Just a filter that looks cleaner than it did — with no data to back it up.

A quality thermal clean follows a specific process: inspect, benchmark, de-ash, bake, cool, de-ash again, verify, and document. Eight steps. Three stages. Every one of them there for a reason.

If your shop — or the shop you're sending filters to — can't show you before-and-after flow readings, you don't actually know if the filter is clean.
