Where do I start, this year’s annual meeting was pretty great. It started with a 4 hour road trip to Washington so our children could spend some time with their grandma’s (thank you!) Then a quick flight to San Antonio to escape the cold weather for a few days or we thought so. The stay was excellent with the exception of Sunday. It was COLD there too! But we got out just in time before the flight delays and cancellations. While we were there we experienced everything we could and got a lot accomplished within the company. We had a phenomenal guest speaker Thomas Richardson speak to the company on culture and leadership knowing a good friend John Goering was involved getting Thomas to speak I knew he wouldn’t disappoint and he surely did not! Got to catch up with a lot of friends and spend some quality time with some quality people!

This customer had his new Forester damaged in a parking lot from someone. He took it to a bodyshop and they verbally told home they would probably replace the door because Subaru’s have soft metal and because of the area it is in. This customer didn’t want the whole side of his brand new car painted (which I can understand) so that bodyshop told him to give me a call and see what I could do. After looking it over in person I decided to give it a shot. Letting the customer know that worst case I could get it close and they wouldn’t then have to blend the front door. It took a couple@months for me to be able to free up enough time in my already packed schedule to tackle it but I’d say it went well! Customer was super stoked to pick it up and see the completed repair. It may not look too bad, but this was a difficult repair. From getting the car in the shop to completely stripping the door down of all its components to a bare shell then getting it off and onto a stand to begin work and getting it back together it was a 13 hour repair. It tested my patience and my skill but I think it’s repairs like this that really push your ability to do quality work not the number of years you have been in a trade.

Shame on them! But it’s not only them, it’s all of them!

Here’s an insurance tip for everyone on this Thursday morning. If you have any aftermarket accessories on your vehicle, vinyl wrap, PPF, Ceramic Coating, Lights, Bumpers and so on keep your receipts and contact your insurance agent to get the correct coverage! I’ve ran into this a couple times where most insurance companies have a $1000 limit on standard policies for any aftermarket items. This Tesla Model S Plaid came in for some hail damage repair, well I needed to remove all the matte clear PPF to properly repair the hail damage. This customer didn’t have the additional coverage and had to pay out of pocket to get the PPF installed again after the repair was completed. Not cool to have to spend $5k+ for something that could have been easily covered with the proper coverage.
