The front end is coming together. 🔧

Another big step forward on the Oldsmobile restoration. The new front hubs have been test fitted and everything is lining up nicely. They’re ready to be permanently mounted alongside the upgraded tubular control arms, adjustable coilovers, and fresh braking components.

And we couldn’t resist giving you a little sneak peek at the new wheels. 👀

There’s still plenty of work ahead, but it’s pretty satisfying seeing clean, upgraded components going back onto that freshly protected frame.

The Cutlass is starting to come back together.

After completing the rust encapsulation and underbody protection, we’ve moved on to rebuilding the front suspension on our 1979 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme project.

New tubular upper and lower control arms are now installed along with adjustable coilover shocks, giving this classic a major upgrade from the original suspension setup.

Next up: new steering knuckles and another step closer to getting this Cutlass back on the road.

A look underneath—and a big step forward on the Cutlass.

The frame encapsulation and sound-deadening undercoating are now complete on our 1979 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme project.

After stripping the suspension and drivetrain out, we were able to get into the areas that normally stay hidden, treat and protect the frame, and apply the undercoating to the underside of the body. The result is a much cleaner foundation with added protection against future rust, corrosion, road noise and vibration.

There’s still plenty of work ahead, but getting the foundation right is what makes the finished build worth it.

Progress you may never see once the car is finished—but work that makes all the difference.

Another step completed on our 1979 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme W30 Hurst Edition project. With the drivetrain and suspension out of the way, we’ve treated the underside of the body with sound deadening and rust inhibitor.

This helps protect the body from future corrosion while also reducing road noise once this Cutlass is back where it belongs—on the road.

A proper restoration isn’t only about what you can see from the outside. It’s about taking care of what’s underneath, too.

Another look behind the scenes at Carlson Customs.

The 1979 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme W30 Hurst Edition is stripped down even further. The complete suspension and drivetrain have been removed so we can get full access to the frame and front cross member.

Next up is rust encapsulation followed by a preventative gloss black coating to protect the frame and give us a clean foundation for everything that comes next.

It’s the work underneath that makes the finished product worth it.

A lot can change when you pay attention to the details.

It’s been another busy week at Carlson Customs. From full restorations to performance upgrades and everything in between, we’re focused on doing the job right and building vehicles that are meant to be driven.

It’s all in the details.

Another step forward on the 1979 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme W30 Hurst Edition. The engine and components are getting cleaned up and refinished as we work toward bringing this build back to its factory appearance.

There’s a lot that happens before a restoration ever gets to final assembly. From the engine block and valve covers to the smaller components most people will never notice, every piece matters.

Still plenty of work ahead, but it’s starting to come together.

Project Update: 1979 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme W30 Hurst Edition

The real work begins.

This numbers-era 1979 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme W30 Hurst Edition is officially torn down as it starts its transformation. The original drivetrain has been removed, giving us access to inspect, restore, and upgrade every inch of the chassis.

This won’t be your average restoration.

Our customer wanted the best of both worlds—a factory-correct appearance with modern performance. The plan includes:
🔧 Complete back-to-factory paint restoration
🏁 Stage 2 Pro Touring package
⚙️ Modern drivability and reliability upgrades
🏎️ Built to handle road courses while remaining comfortable on the street
