A slow crank doesn’t always mean the starter or batteries are bad. 👀
This diesel came in cranking slower than it should, and we found this battery cable end heavily damaged from corrosion. As corrosion works its way into the connection, it creates resistance and makes it harder for all that amperage to get where it needs to go.
On a diesel, where the starter needs a LOT of current, a connection like this can make a big difference. ⚡
Sometimes the problem isn’t a complicated electrical failure—it’s simply a bad connection hiding right in front of you.

🛑 There’s not much brake pad left on this one!
This picture was taken with everything still installed on the vehicle, looking through the back of the brake caliper. You can see just how thin the brake pad has gotten compared to where it should be.
Brake pads wear down gradually, so it can be easy to miss until you start hearing squealing or grinding. Once they get this low, there isn’t much material left before you risk damaging the brake rotors and turning a normal brake job into a more expensive repair.
This is exactly why we measure brake pad thickness during our inspections. Sometimes you can catch a problem before the car starts telling you about it. 🔧

🔊 Turn the sound up for this one!
This wheel bearing/hub assembly was already removed from the vehicle when we took this video, but you can still hear just how bad it was.
One of our techs is simply spinning the hub by hand, and you can clearly hear the rough, grinding noise coming from inside the bearing. A good wheel bearing should rotate smoothly and quietly—definitely not sound like this. 😬
On the vehicle, a failing wheel bearing will usually create a humming, growling, or grinding noise that gets louder as vehicle speed increases. Sometimes the noise will also change when turning left or right.
This one was definitely ready for retirement. 😂

⛽ If you smell gas around your vehicle, don’t ignore it!
This vehicle came in with a strong fuel smell, and once we got access to the top of the fuel tank, we found the problem pretty quickly.
The fitting on top of the fuel pump assembly had cracked, allowing fuel and fuel vapors to escape from the top of the tank. The first photo shows the crack in the original assembly, and the second shows the new assembly installed and ready to go.
It’s a relatively small crack, but definitely not a small problem when gasoline is involved. 😬
We replaced the complete fuel pump assembly, got everything sealed back up, and took care of the fuel leak and smell.

Well… this is what happens when a ball joint completely gives up 😬
This customer unfortunately found out the hard way. The upper ball joint completely separated from the control arm while they were driving, causing the wheel to fall over and leaving the vehicle needing to be towed into the shop.
In the video, you can see just how bad it was—the ball joint basically falls right out of the control arm with nothing holding it in place anymore.
Ball joints usually give some warning as they wear, like clunking over bumps, loose or wandering steering, uneven tire wear, or excessive play in the suspension. But once they reach this point, there’s no driving it anywhere.
Definitely one of those “you don’t see that every day” moments at the shop. 😂

💡 Sometimes the bulb isn’t the problem!
This vehicle came in with a headlight that wasn’t working properly. During our diagnosis, we found the issue wasn’t the headlight itself—it was a burnt terminal inside the electrical connector.
As you can see in the photo, one of the terminals had overheated and started to melt the connector. A poor connection creates resistance, which generates heat and can eventually cause the circuit to fail completely.
Electrical issues like this are a great example of why proper diagnosis matters. Simply replacing the bulb wouldn’t have fixed the actual problem.

⛽ A tiny crack can lead to a big problem.
This vehicle came in with fuel system concerns, and after diagnosing the issue, we found the culprit—a cracked fuel pump assembly.
The crack shown in the photo had developed on the top of the fuel pump module. Even though it may not look like much, cracks like this can cause fuel pressure loss, fuel leaks, hard starting, extended crank times, EVAP system faults, and even no-start conditions.
Many people assume a fuel pump has simply “gone bad,” but it’s important to identify why the problem occurred. A cracked fuel pump assembly can create symptoms that mimic other fuel system failures, making proper diagnostics essential.

🐭 Think rodents only belong outside? Think again.
This vehicle came in with multiple electrical problems, and after a thorough inspection, we found the culprit—rodent damage.
Mice and rats love to chew on modern vehicle wiring because many wire coatings are made with soy-based materials. It only takes one damaged wire to trigger multiple warning lights, intermittent electrical issues, or even leave you stranded.
In this case, several wires had been chewed through, causing communication problems and multiple diagnostic trouble codes. Fortunately, we were able to pinpoint the damaged wiring and make the necessary repairs.
If your vehicle suddenly develops strange electrical issues, especially after sitting for a while, don’t overlook the possibility of rodent damage.

⚡ Proper diagnostics save time, money, and unnecessary parts replacement.
In this video, we’re testing a vehicle with an inoperative cooling fan. Using a multimeter, we confirmed that battery voltage is reaching the cooling fan assembly, which tells us the wiring, fuse, and control side of the circuit are doing their job.
Since the fan is receiving the correct voltage but the motor will not run, we’ve confirmed the cooling fan motor has failed internally. The only proper repair is to replace the cooling fan assembly.
This is exactly why we test before replacing parts. Many cooling fan issues can be caused by blown fuses, faulty relays, wiring problems, or control modules. By verifying power and ground at the fan, we can confidently identify the failed component and avoid unnecessary repairs.
If your vehicle is overheating, the A/C isn’t cooling well at idle, or your cooling fan isn’t operating properly, let our team diagnose it the right way.
