Do you have Good Sam or Assurant Extended Warranty or are thinking about getting it? We would like to let you know of something going on at least in the Black Hills of South Dakota area then!
While this isnt necessarily good news to share, it needs to be shared with our customers and potential customers: If you are using your extended warranty policy in this area, and are using a mobile repair service (as far as we know currently, its mobile services only, but could be subject to change), there are a couple extra hoops to jump through to get your claim taken care of. One of 2 things will have to happen to get your claim processed and paid: 1. You, as the customer will need to contact the warranty company and state that the issue that you are having, so it can be documented in your file, and mostly likely will have a phone conversation after the repairs are done as well to verify they were in fact done and to your satisfaction, or 2. When we make the claim and do the repairs on your behalf, an independent adjuster will have to come out and inspect the issue before and after the repairs to make sure they were indeed repairs needed and that they were done.
Neither of these things are very difficult to do, and for the most part, things will be fairly seamless for your repairs, but bear with us if we ask you to contact them again in the process, as things could slip through the cracks on their end for proper documentation. We will do everything we can to make sure your time is not wasted any more than need be. Now, some may be asking already....Why? What happened? Well, we dont have an exact reason, but more of a wide coverage reason. During our last warranty claim, this was all brought to our attention and we were told that no names or companies could be mentioned as there were legal issues, but it was definitely an issue in this area that they were addressing and it was with mobile repair businesses. One or more of the repair businesses in the area has made multiple fraudulent high dollar claims on RV owners behalf. It started with a legit claim being filed, repairs done, and business being paid. After that is where things turned bad. The repair company/companies then filed multiple claims for repairs and part replacement, including some high dollar appliances, in the following weeks without there being an issue or the RV owner knowing about it. RV owners were contacted after these claims were filed and paid, just as a courtesy to make sure they were satisfied, and that is when the owners would tell the warranty company that they had not filed any claim and everything was working normally. After a period of time and discussion among staff at the warranty company, the repair company/companies have been black listed to never be able to do repairs for the warranty company again, and for the unforeseeable future, all mobile repair companies will have the extra steps to jump through. Again, we have already dealt with this and its not as bad as one would think, as we work with them in understanding the issue and just move forward accordingly.
There have been many new faces and companies coming into the Black Hills area over the last few years. While we want to be clear that we are not against any of these companies coming to the area to work, we do want to stress to make sure you are comfortable with the place you choose. There are many "fly by night" businesses out there that are looking to make a couple quick dollars and move on. This area is a prime target for just that due to the high volume of short term tourists that visit this area each year. We see it every year unfortunately, and we hear their stories, which is even worse. We help every one of them that we can, as quickly as we can as well. The RV industry isnt immune from this either, sadly.
TravelTyme has been in the Black Hills for over 10 years....spring, summer, fall, AND winter (excluding 1 winter season that we tried out Florida), and we arent going anywhere! We thank each and every customer we have and each and every customer we hope to gain for supporting us! Without all of you, none of this job that we love would be possible!
See everyone soon and have a great "off season"
