The Petty Family founded Petty Engineering in 1949 on the same property that today turns out performance automobiles for the street as Petty's Garage. Petty's Garage is a high-performance speed shop originally founded by Richard Petty in 2008 as an expansion of his competitive career and ambition to find ways to continue to win both on and off the track. Richard Petty has been building hot rods ev

er since his childhood bicycle wouldn’t go fast enough. Performance vehicles or stock cars, Richard Petty’s life has been built around production and driving high quality vehicles. Today, the Garage is a 2nd generation Petty Family owned & operated business. Our performance experts have earned the respect of customer and fans that crowned Petty the “King of NASCAR”. Our crew is looking forward to helping you start and new project or upgrade your current vehicle.

We turned a frame full of problems into a street-ready powerhouse.

The '55 Chevy truck is officially in the home stretch of its restoration. After building out the engine and uncovering significant frame issues, we overhauled the entire back half of this build. We’ve installed a triangulated four-link suspension to handle the massive horsepower and executed a proper C-notch for safety and performance.

Right now, the team is finalizing the custom bed floor. Instead of just letting the frame rails stick through, we are fabricating a custom cover so the protrusion looks intentional and high-end.

This beast hits the pavement by the end of next week. Drop a comment and tell us what your dream engine is for a '55 Chevy build.

From 1,000 HP hypercars to numbers-matching muscle, the Legendary Garage is wide open this June.

Our team is currently pushing the limits of performance and preservation:

➡️ Ultima RS: We are rebuilding the top end with upgraded cylinder heads, pushrods, and rocker arms to prepare this supercharged LS "hypercar" for the dyno.

➡️1966 Pontiac GTO: We stripped this 389 tri-power, four-speed icon down to the dash and fenders to install a full Vintage Air system.

➡️Custom Fabrication: We are TIG welding a full 304 stainless steel exhaust for a red Chevy Nova to ensure it never sees a speck of rust.

➡️Classic Maintenance: From a '70 Charger RT getting factory-spec tips and fresh gaskets to a '74 Trans Am receiving a custom rear suspension drop, we handle the details that make a ride legendary.

Is your ride ready for the road, or does it need a legendary upgrade? Bring it by the shop and let’s get to work.

Huge congratulations to the team on an incredible P2 finish! 🏁We’re proud that Legendary Engine Development helped keep ...

This 1967 Chevelle arrived at the shop with seven shades of white and left with a singular, blinding perfection.

The team at Legendary Garage completely reworked the panel fitment, meticulously straightening the doors to the fenders and quarters to ensure every gap was laser-straight. After blocking it out and applying polyester primer, it was time for the finish: four coats of GM code 50 white topped with five coats of clear.

But the real magic happened in the sanding booth. To achieve a finish so flat it mimics a vintage lacquer job, the clear coat was dry-blocked with 800-grit to kill the texture, followed by a week-long wet-sanding marathon through 5,000-grit. The result is a textureless, mirror-like surface that defines "stellar."

If your project deserves this level of obsession, you know where to find us.

Think 7 liters of naturally aspirated Chevrolet power wasn’t enough?

We’re taking this Kawasaki Green Ultima to the next level at Legendary Garage. While our other Ultima project is currently in the dyno room being tuned, this build is just getting started on its transformation.

To maximize the potential of that massive 7L power plant, we’re installing a camshaft upgrade and a high-flow intake. To make sure it breathes as well as it performs, we are fabricating a full, custom stainless steel exhaust system from the ground up.

We don't just handle the classics; we specialize in the unique, the rare, and the high-performance.

Fabrication and custom paint are officially in the rearview mirror, and this 1969 Super Bee has entered the final assembly stage.

There is nothing quite like the "Christmas morning" feeling of unboxing fresh components and seeing a vision finally take shape. The Gen 3 Hemi is back in its home, the brakes are being fitted, and those custom-built headers just returned from coating. With the Vintage Air system already tucked in, we are officially on a 30-day countdown until this beast is up and running.

We are bringing this project up to speed quickly, so stay tuned to see the finished product roar to life.

Drop a "🐝" in the comments if you want to be the first to see the final reveal.

It’s a never-ending debate: old school vs. new school. And honestly, we can't pick.

A 1969 Charger R/T and a 2019 Hellcat sharing the same lot; it doesn't get more Mopar than this.
One is a piece of American history, the other is a modern monster. Both are impossible to ignore.

Which one are you taking home? Drop your pick in the comments. 👇
