Our hearts are heavy today at Smart Choice Sales as we mourn the tragic loss of our friend and colleague, Andrew Wagner, known to us and so many others as “The Bus Doctor.” As you may have already heard Andrew tragically lost his life yesterday while doing what he loved and has spent so much of his life doing; working on a bus and helping someone else in their time of desperate need.

If you knew Andrew, you knew just how special he was. He had an incredible knowledge of buses and a way of figuring out problems that would leave the rest of us scratching our heads. If there was a bus that needed fixing, chances are Andrew either knew what was wrong or knew how to figure it out. That all said though, Andrew was so much more than a great mechanic. He was a friend and someone you could call when you needed help. He was always willing to share what he knew, lend a hand, and usually find a way to make the best of a difficult time. You could tel very quickly after getting to know him that he genuinely cared about the industry and its people.

The bus and motorcoach industry is a small and close knit world. Over the years, competitors become friends, customers and employees become family, and you get to know the people who are out there every day keeping this industry moving forward in a better way than yesterday. Andrew was one of those people who seemed to know everyone, and everyone knew The Bus Doctor. It is hard to put into words how heartbreaking it is to lose someone like Andrew, especially so suddenly and while he was doing the work he loved.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Andrew’s family, his friends, everyone at Quicks Bus and The Bus Doctor, and all of those throughout our industry who knew and loved him. We were fortunate to work alongside Andrew over the years; we will truly miss those times, conversations, and experiences. Many buses are on the road today because Andrew got his hands dirty and helped get them moving again. Likewise, many people in this industry are better at what they do because Andrew took the time to help them. That says a lot about the man he was and the legacy he leaves behind.

Rest easy, Bus Doctor. You helped a lot of people along the way, including us. We are going to miss you, Andrew.
