As everyone already knows, we would like to take some time and recognize the passing of our founder Olav Aaen, a true pioneer in the world of motorsports, who left us too soon. Born in Sweden and growing up in Norway, Olav's love for speed and all things fast began at a young age. His passion for racing led him to the world of speedway bikes, and journalism eventually taking him to the U.S. where he studied engineering. Working for O.M.C. he fell in love with snowmobiles and the racing taking place during the time. Olav started Aaen Performance in 1975 when he and Jimmy the Greek Senior were building motocross and snowmobile pipes in a one car garage, the legacy of innovation and excellence took off.
Olav’s hard dedication to building and racing top class machines along with his contributions to ISR Drag Racing set industry standards that continue to shape the sport today. His inventive spirit and dedication to pushing the limits made him a beloved figure among racers, who often regarded him as family. His ability to connect with people, share knowledge, and foster a sense of community is what made Olav so special to all who knew him.
As we mourn his passing, we take comfort knowing his legacy will continue. Aaen Performance will remain committed to fulfilling orders, building pipes, and answering technical questions. We ask for your patience as we transition into the next fifty years of Olav’s vision.
Olav will be deeply missed by his wife, family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to share in his love of racing. His spirit and contributions will forever live on in the motorsports community.
