October 17 is a day that is setup to recognize the simplest of roadside laws, when you see flashing lights on the shoulder of a road you slow down and move over. Although the law is so simple dozens of roadside responders are injured or killed each year in the states we operate in.

Please remember each one of the men and women working along side the road simply ask for the ability to work safely.

Our operators at NorthStar greatly appreciate each and every person that gives us the room to perform our duties of helping a stranded individual get out of harms way.

Starting out as a partnership between Tom Sullivan and Jerry Grailer, G&S Welding & Truck Repair began in 1985. Tom and Beth Sullivan became the sole owners in 1986 and ran under the original name until 1994. That was the year the Western Star truck dealership was offered and the name was changed to U.P. Western Star. In 1995 the Star West trailer line was launched, bringing a full line of durable, lightweight equipment for the logging industry. In 2022 the area developed a need to bring in a division to supply customers with a reliable towing service. With the purchase of "Betty" the gap was quickly filled in the spring of 2022 and by winter "Rosey" was brought home as well with the launch of U.P. Truck Center Towing & Recovery LLC. In 2025 StarWest took on the challenging task of Betty reincarnated, and fully disassembled and rebuilt the wrecker onto its new chassis.
In 2026 U.P. Truck Center Towing & Recovery takes on its next step as we launch NorthStar Towing & Recovery. Under the leadership of both Tom and Beth this change is solely to help build on our brand recognition and stand out as your local heavy towing operation.
Not only are major thanks in order to Tom and Beth for continuing to put the areas needs first, but NorthStar Towing & Recovery would also like to thank our customers that have continued to be loyal to us in all aspects of operations!

With winter on the approach it is important to finish up those pesky fall projects! Our operators make some pretty strange requests seem ordinary!
Our rotator had the opportunity to help relocate this waterfall to the owners new home over the weekend!
