Yesterday we attended the most amazing car event in Connecticut. Dream Ride Experience is much more than a car show. Hundreds of children & adults with disabilities or special needs are paired up with a driver for a 17 mile Dream Cruise in a classic car, exotic car, firetruck, police car, Jeep, etc.
Along the Dream Cruise route residents line their front yards to wave as they pass by. When they return to the fairgrounds, the dream riders are dropped off at the red carpet where they are greeted with cheers and high-fives as they enter the main tent & stage. The smiles on the faces of the dream riders and their parents are priceless. This was one of the most emotional things we’ve ever been part of.
In addition to some of the most incredible cars we’ve ever
seen, there were hundreds of motorcycles, an amazing pet adoption expo, fishing tournament, K-9 demonstrations, a baseball tournament, co****le, basketball tournaments, kids train rides, 2 stages with amazing live bands, a dj, food trucks, an amazing buffet for paying guests, & much more.
The best part is that this is all done for charity and over $15 million has been raised by the Dream Ride Experience & donated to The Hometown Foundation, an organization who supports individuals with intellectual & developmental disabilities, animal welfare & adoption, emergency response personnel & K9 units, military, major illnesses, those in need & more.
I’ve been told that there may be more than 1200 cars today. Hopefully the rain holds out. If it’s not too far, take a ride and check out this amazing event.
Check out the website, social media and YouTube videos for dreamride.org, and check out The Hometown Foundation, inc website.
Hats off to all the volunteers and sponsors who make this awesome event possible. Thank you Dean Cusano from Motorcars inc for the invite. We are looking forward to being even more involved next year.
