Avoid that sinking feeling! Literally!
First, you step on the brake pedal, and have it sink to the floor, with little to no stopping power. Presuming you get stopped, next is the realization that you need to call and wait for a tow truck. Last is the sensation of having your bank account drained considerably.
We have 3 of these cases in the shop this week alone. Rusting brake lines are the issue, caused in part, by salt solutions sprayed on the streets prior to snow. These solutions stick to the bottom of the car and don't rinse off in the rain, extending the corrosion through the summer.
You can help avoid this with a full chassis car wash (or maybe 2)after the last snow. Not the drive through gas station kind, but one that also has hot soapy water sprayed on the underside of the car or truck. This small inexpensive effort can help you avoid that sinking feeling.
