Lynn and Lindsay at the ATSG ( automatic transmission service group) seminar getting informed on the latest problems and updates for the newest, most complicated transmissions out there. ATSG is an independent research group that works closely with manufacturers researching, creating and bringing real world TSB's, fixes and solutions to the transmission industry.
The factories still haven't engineered a foolproof transmission so, till then, we'll stay on top of the latest TSB's and updates every year...

Do you have a rare or obsolete manual transmission that has the dreaded input shaft pilot damage
TechPak USA makes great repair kits for a lot of manual transmissions just for this problem.
Consisting of an oversized bearing and hardened race with installation tool.
Super nice and bulletproof repair. I'd even consider it an upgrade over the stock pilot bearings small diameter and soft shaft pilot tip.

GM service procedure for drainage of the torque converter up till the mid 80's....
Drill a hole in the converter and reseal it with a blind pop rivet,....yikes! But, apparently if done correctly, they'll never leak, like this one. I've Only seen a few in the past as I assume most techs would skip this risky maneuver.

Stickshift Transmission isn't shifting into 2nd, 4th, 6th and reverse....
I think we found the problem, lol! Somethings been packing for winter and figured the shifter linkage is also a great hiding spot for walnuts besides the engine bay.
Some de-walnutification and it shifts like a brand new car!

Don't ignore those drivetrain vibrations!
This is an extreme case of bad "u" joints ripping everything apart. Totally preventable and much cheaper to fix before it gets to this.

I've seen this in a hundred pictures and memes but, I never thought I'd actually see it in real life, lol!Customer state...

Customer states.... I just did brakes and now the grinding noise is even worse...
Sure is! We'll fix it for ya! They're just glad it's not the transmission.
