Todd Silberman and Mitch Rofsky met forty years ago in an Ohio Cub Scout troop. Little did they know that someday they would create Better World Services, Inc. (There's so much more to tell about Todd and Mitch in their youth: from academic honors to the culture of the 1960’s—you know about the 1960’s don’t you? ounders worked their way through law school in the 70's, Todd as a travel agent, Mitch with winnings from game shows like the Joker's Wild. Upon graduating, Todd sensed the airline industry beginning to deregulate. He seized the opportunity and co-founded the third largest travel agency in the U.S. before selling it to American Express in the early 90's. Todd was an innovator at the cutting edge of the fast evolving industry. Meanwhile, Mitch selflessly dedicated himself to the public interest, working for Ralph Nader's Public Citizen —(this was Nader well before he became a politician). He later helped to provide the initial financing for the socially responsible Working Assets Mutual Fund and became its President in 1991. He was the first chair of Business for Social Responsibility, and in 1996 founded just such a progressive business, American Consumer Insurance which is now Better World Insurance, Cambridge MA. Our mature and old-growth forests are one of nature’s greatest tools to help us fight climate change. They also provide so many other valuable resources, like critical habitat for wildlife and reliable drinking water for hundreds of millions of Americans. We have an opportunity to make a new measure proposed by the U.S. Forest Service the safeguard we need to protect forests from the urgent threat of commercial logging — but only if we act now!

"In a victory for the health of all Americans, especially those most burdened by air pollution, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Michael Regan announced today the agency’s final decision strengthening limits on soot (fine particulate matter) in our air. These limits, a part of the Clean Air Act known as National Ambient Air Quality Standards, define how much soot pollution is medically unsafe to breathe and set the level to which this kind of pollution must be reduced across the country. Soot air pollution from car and truck tailpipes, power plants, and other fossil fuel combustion seriously harms human health, damaging the heart, brain, and cardiovascular system and causing premature deaths. With today’s strong action, Americans will breathe cleaner, healthier air. In fact, the EPA estimates that by 2032, these stronger soot limits will result in 4,500 fewer deaths and 800,000 fewer asthma attacks (among other health benefits) across the country each year."

Today's agency action will deliver life-saving protections from dangerous air pollution.

New recall information highlights the impact of keeping vehicles safe

As daylight saving time approaches, the NHTSA is raising awareness about the dangers of ignoring vehicle safety recalls. During this Vehicle Safety Recalls Week, the agency is asking all drivers to check for safety recalls and get any recalled vehicle fixed immediately for FREE!!

Recall information collected by NHTSA shows that the number of vehicles recalled increased in 2022. March 6-12, 2023 is Vehicle Safety Recalls Week.

Ford topped their list with the most complaints, followed by Chevrolet and Jeep. Imports were led by Kia and Hyundai with their problematic internal combustion engines.
