We sat down with Zach White, Director of Corporate Service, to reflect on his 20-year journey with TEC Equipment for our 50th anniversary celebration.
Before joining TEC Equipment, Zach had been a mobile technician for a large fleet, later becoming their foreman. However, he set his eyes on joining a dealership early on.
“Dealerships carried a certain reputation in the fleet world. They were always the last stop,” Zach explains. “If something couldn’t be fixed anywhere else, it ended up at the dealership flying the factory flag.”
That perception gave him a strong respect for the level of expertise required to work in a dealership, and he set his eyes on TEC.
Still, his first day at TEC came with a bit of humor.
“I started as a technician, and they gave me bright orange temporary coveralls,” he remembers. “With my shaved head and those orange coveralls, I probably looked like I should have been picking up trash on the side of the highway.”
Despite the awkward first impression, Zach quickly discovered that TEC was the kind of place where people invested in one another. In 20 years at TEC, he’s held several roles and even relocated to three different cities with TEC. Each move gave him the opportunity to learn from new mentors and work with different teams.
Today, when Zach reflects on his experience at TEC, he can summarize it in a single sentence.
“It’s a place where ideas meet reality – and more often than not, we find a way to make reality cooperate.”
