Good evening fellow car enthusiasts!
If you haven't picked up a copy of the Porterville Recorder yet, you probably haven't noticed that we made it on the front page. Unfortunately, it's not for the reason we would like but what can we do? First off, we want to say how upset we are with the Porterville Recorder for just taking on one side of the story and not ours. Now, Mayor Monte Reyes said in the article that the City of Porterville had nothing to do with stopping our events/peaceful protest, but if that's the case Mayor Reyes why did the property management company get cited by the City of Porterville (pictured below) for these events? Prior to this citation the property management had given me verbal authorization to host these events, and it being a private parking lot, we were clear to host these events. If it wouldn't have been for the City of Porterville's citation, we'd still be hosting these events, which are very peaceful and so many people, including the businesses around, look forward to. Especially in times like these where people are struggling to make ends meet, or just need an escape. We're really upset with this whole situation because we shouldn't be dealing with this. The Porterville City Fire Marshall Clayton Dignam/Dave Lapere also sent us this Trespass Warning. It seems like the City doesn't want ANYONE on the Porterville Plaza parking lot. So basically, taking away profit from the businesses that are struggling. If we truly had City of Porterville Council members and a Mayor that really cared, they would be putting this same energy in helping businesses, fixing roads and maybe, just maybe building a new library or parks for our kids. But instead, they're worried about their pockets and their own well-being. Also, the Porterville Police Department is here to protect and serve not to arrest and cite car enthusiast hanging out and having coffee and donuts. If anything, they should be joining us and interacting with the community.
Hope everyone has a goodnight! Hoping for better days ahead.
