A Flood Watch remains in effect for St. Lucie County through Monday afternoon as heavy rain raises concerns about flooded roads in Port St. Lucie and nearby communities.

The National Weather Service reported 3 to 7 inches of rain in parts of the region during Sunday’s storms, with locally higher totals in western St. Lucie County. More rain could lead to standing water, especially in low-lying areas and neighborhoods with poor drainage.

No districtwide closure of St. Lucie Public Schools had been confirmed at the time of publication. Families should check official school district updates and assess road conditions before traveling. Drivers should never attempt to cross flooded roads.

💔 23-YEAR-OLD ROAD RANGER KILLED WHILE HELPING AT I-95 CRASH — TEEN DRIVER ENTERED CLOSED LANES

Kalibe Combs was doing his job, helping at a crash near Lantana Road, when troopers say an 18-year-old drove into a two-lane closure, struck him and crashed into an FHP cruiser.

His mother says he had his warning lights on, safety gear out and followed every protocol.

Now, his family is mourning a young father who worked double shifts to support his baby girl, not even 3 months old.
