My 1991 300TE 4Matic has been getting some love.
New valve cover gasket, new spark plugs, new injectors, new front rotors and pads, new rear rotors, pads and calipers, new rear diff fluid, new front sway bar bushings, new Depo e-codes and new right rear wheel bearing.
I couldn't find caliper guide pins on Rockauto, which is where I ordered the bulk of the parts, so I reconditioned the old ones with some steel wool and elbow grease. JK I put them in the 1/4" impact and ran them at mach 17 while pinching them with steel wool.
The Depo headlights required more fitting than I expected, so they took twice as long to install than I'd originally planed. I got the ones with the harness adapter but I didn't see a pin out guide on how to wire it. I'll have to search the forums I guess.
Got everything done but the rear right wheel bearing.
It's been a massive pain! I took my time to thoroughly clean the triple square bolts on the axle, so they all came out fine using two jack handle breaker bars.
The slide hammer method didn't make the hub move a millimeter, so I pulled the whole knuckle and put it in the 20 ton press. It took almost all 20 Tons to pop it out. Couldn't figure out how to press out the hub out without mangling the dust shield, so I cut it off with a narrow kerf dremel wheel. I'll put it back together with the MIG.
