A cool feature of the 2026 Southeastern Hot Rod Show appears in the current Issue #82 of Rodding USA magazine & it includes some of the outstanding hot rods that participated in this awesome event, organized by Greg & Suzette Grier ! Marty Crain, of the Rodding USA editorial staff did a great job with text, photo captions & overall photography of this event that's growing in popularity among hot rodders each & every year. Greg & Suzette are doing all the necessary event organizing & planning & are busy bringing new attractions to their event. Greg will be releasing the new attractions on his page in the months ahead. I'll be handcrafting the "Best of Show" award again in 2027 & am currently in the design stage for a one of a kind award that will be hot rod oriented & innovative ! Last years "Best of Show" award winner Andrew Bowen's AMBR contending 32 roadster is featured in this post along with last years "Best of Show" award that I handcrafted specifically for the SEHRS. Mark your calendars & make arrangements for this very cool hot rod show, June 4th & 5th 2027, at the North Georgia AG fairgrounds in Dalton, Georgia !

The C10 Nationals held last weekend at the Nashville Super Speedway produced a large gathering of classic Chevy trucks ! Really happy for Dennis & Cyndi Quin as their 53 Chevy pickup "Eeyore" was given the "All American" award, there ! The Quin's hot rod hauler has had a successful year as it was also given the "Top Truck" award at the NSRA Mid America Nationals in May. Dennis & Cyndi's pickup build quality is top shelf with tasteful body modifications, precise panel gaps, panel straightness, fit of all body, chassis, suspension, engine compartment & interior components & consistent finishes of paint, powder coating & other coatings throughout. All these quality characteristics that come together to allow great stance, style & attitude. Congratulations Quin's !

Great turnout in beautiful weather for the "Cruisin' Heyworth" VFW Post 1550 car show, yesterday ! 120 participants registered in a day that brought some really cool rides to the town of Heyworth. Here are some photos of cars & trucks that participated in this event.

The 2026 Mother Road Festival exceeded my expectations of an event that gathered many participants & spectators from not only Illinois but from various other states & countries ! The "icing on the cake" came on Sunday during the awards ceremony. Our good friends Phil & Debbie Becker's 32 Ford Vicky was awarded "Best of Show" ! Really happy for them primarily, & secondly to all who contributed their skills & time for the construction of this build. Some of our other friends also won awards including Dan Burkitt & his 39 LaSalle & Kelly & Darla Moore for their 40 Ford Wildrod ! I've included photos of their cars & I've included photos of some of the parts that I handcrafted for all three award winning cars in this post. This really cool event definitely made its mark. We're looking forward to future Mother Road Festivals, ahead.

The International Mother Road Festival was a record breaking weekend ! 1498 registered vehicles were present & accounted for which eclipses the previous record participation by almost 300 vehicles ! This event has become one of best Illinois attended & organized events, & rightfully so. Many happenings took place over the weekend including experiencing the Illinois Army National Guard Flyover celebrating America's 250th & seeing up close, some top shelf hot rods I hadn't seen before & others that I have that are outstanding builds & are always a pleasure to look at. The icing on the cake was witnessing our friends & customers, Phil & Debbie Becker, Dan Burkitt & Kelly & Darla Moore, winning big awards from a very stout field. I'll be creating a post of the "Best of Show" winning participant on Thursday for our weekly post. So, stay tuned !

Witnessed an outstanding event in our state's capitol this past weekend, the "Mother Road Festival" ! This enormous event was organized to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Rt. 66 & also to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the festival. Although there's too much to list to completely report on all the attractions & activities let's just say there were many & well thought out. Hats off to the event organizers, Mayor of Springfield & police & security for an event enjoyed by everyone ! From the Friday night car cruise through the streets of Springfield where over a thousand participating cars, trucks & motorcycles drove through an extended cruise route (about an hour in length), including driving through the LRS Motordome (BOS Center) where an indoor car show was taking place & ending in the downtown area of the city to take in the laser light show displayed on the walls of the Old Capitol Building & a live band "Revil in Red" performing at the Isringhausen stage. What an event & this will be the first of two photo segments covering many very cool participating vehicles from several states & countries. Let me know which is your favorite participating vehicle. Couldn't be happier for our good friends Todd, Aimee, Chase & Eloise Becker for them with their 32 tudor displayed in this month's (October edition) of the Goodguys Gazette for winning the Classic Instruments "Trophy Dash" award at the Goodguys Heartland Nationals in Des Moines, Iowa ! The family team effort with choosing the "V8 Speedster Series", Classic Instruments gauging & installation of all the components, along with the engine turned, Auburn style, six gauge dash insert that I handcrafted really made for an exciting experience for everyone involved. I've posted photos of this outstanding tudor from various National events held this past summer.

The Frog Follies gathered a large sum of hot rods this year & walking through the event I was drawn from afar to this very cool 46 Ford ! Owned & built by Greg "Cubby" Hole, this awesome fat fendered Ford has a distinct two-tone paint scheme, a cool stance, Cragar SS wheels & a custom interior featuring one of our #1583 46-48 Ford dash panels (four gauge driver's side panel & glove box door panel) & two big gauge adapter rings. The #1583 dash kit allows the builder to use any aftermarket gauging he or she desires & in this case Greg chose Classic Instruments gauging throughout. It's great to meet customers such as Greg at events abroad & we had a great conversation. Thanks Greg ! I've included photos of other 46-48 Ford dash kits photographed separately & assembled to the dashboard of some very cool customer cars in this post. The photos consist of both off the shelf units & custom one off pieces designed & handcrafted with special customer considerations involved.

Cool car show in Cornell, today ! It was great visiting with friends at the city park & taking in the good weather. The ol' Ford was given the Cornell Days "Mayor's Choice" award. A big thanks to the car show staff for organizing this event ! Here's some photos of some of the participating cars & trucks that were present & on display.

My favorite traditional 32 Cabriolet anywhere is the feature hot rod for this week ! Michael Monaco owner & builder of this outstanding hot rod built most of this car himself with very little outside help. Mike's first attempt at displaying his cool Cabriolet at the Detroit Autorama took place last March (2026) & in so doing was awarded "Best Traditional Hot Rod" of the entire event ! Very deserving & quite an honor. Mike & I have collaborated our photography skills, shot at the Detroit Autorama & the NSRA Louisville Nationals & have provided a collection of photos in this post, of his 32 from many angles & various detail shots. Mike used one of our #1596 "Traditional Series" 32 Ford, oval, engine turned, five gauge dash inserts for his 32 Cab. Really appreciate seeing one of our dash inserts as part of such a high level build. Thanks Mike !
