Hotrodders through the years have had a thought process that being involved with hot rodding keeps the enthusiast young at heart. Such is the case with the owner of this awesome 34 Ford sedan. Ron Davis & the life he has lived is an inspiration to many including me ! Ron's 34 Ford goes beyond being a show winner, as most every part of his hot rod has been carefully thought out & has his personal touches throughout. Ron & I became friends years ago & along the way we have had good conversations about what his hot rod needed for not only aesthetics but also function & safety. Ron drives his 34 Ford to every show & was experiencing rear vision issues that were in need of addressing. One of the first vision issues fixed was handcrafting an interior rear view mirror mount that I made that had a flat mount that was glued to the windshield. The next vision issue was the door outside mirrors, as Ron bought a pair of swan neck style mirrors that didn't have enough angular adjustment to align the mirror with where Ron sat in the car. Many of the hot rod style mirrors available, don't have enough angular adjustment, especially when it comes to the passenger side of a given car. After some careful testing & mocking up of the angle while Ron sat in the driver's seat we came up with the proper alignment angle & from there, I handcrafted one off bases with angled inserts to resolve the rear vision issue of the drivers & passenger's sides. A special thanks to Ron Davis as we have worked very well together through the years ! I've included photos of most of the parts that were handcrafted for Ron's 34 Ford in this post.

Phil Rosen owner & builder of this outstanding custom classic Chevy truck & I scheduled a get together through email prior to the "Legends of Hot Rodding" in Nashville that took place a couple of weekends ago & it was great to talk with Phil & his wife in person ! Phil's truck has so much detail & has great style & craftsmanship involved everywhere you look. Some of the detail includes slick & thought out body modifications including the front of the bed that conforms to the curvature of the cab, a completely fabricated dashboard, inner fenders & firewall metal shaped from flat sheet with custom paint by Bret Schemeski & crew at Mountain Home Street Rods that include the colors late GM pewter, Peugeot snow velvet separated by a signal orange stripe. The interior stitched by Pro Auto Custom Interiors by Steve Holcomb & crew is a sight to behold. The chassis is a boxed unit from TCI along with one of their power rack units & master cylinders for the brake system that includes Wilwood components throughout. A 2' dropped suspension with a Currie 9" rear end round out the underside. Steve Legens & crew from Steve Legens Hot Rods completely fabricated the stainless 2 1/2" exhaust. Wheels of choice were Billet Specialties "Fast Lane", 18 x 8 up front & 20 x 10 out back mounted to Firestone Firehawk tires. The LS1 motor is loaded with Comp Cams goodies & a Holley Sniper injection unit that features a handcrafted custom made plenum top cover that I made for it that suppresses harmonic noise that these injection units make during operation. Dennis Quin gets credit for the original concept of the cover that I made for his custom truck. Thanks for viewing everyone !

Congratulations to Phil & Debbie Becker, as their 32 Ford Vicky was awarded a Bobby Alloway " Builder's Choice" award & a "Goodguys Staff Pick" at the "Legends of Hot Rodding" in Nashville last weekend ! Really happy for them ! Through the weekend activities I met several hot rod builders & enthusiasts who came to inspect this build & was enlightened by their intelligent & inquisitive curiosity of the fine details that this car possesses. They made me feel that all the thought & work others & myself put into this 32 Ford wasn't in vain. Granted there are enthusiasts who judge their thoughts by superficial means of a given car & if the paint is shiny & the hot rod has a cool set of wheels then it's satisfactory by their standards, & that's ok, as everyone has their way of enjoying hot rodding. But the sport has become much deeper than that, evident of the attention to detail & degree of difficulty that's displayed on various cars & trucks throughout, thanks to hours of thought, design & development by craftsmen abroad. I'm thankful & happy to be one of them. No, Miss Vicky is not just another pretty face. The following photos are of Phil & Deb's Vicky with photos of some of the detail pieces that I handcrafted for it. Thanks for viewing !

The Mother Road at the Mansion event wasn't just about hot rods, customs, street machines & custom classic trucks. It was also about celebrating restored vehicles, too ! Dan Burkitt's two National award winning original restored cars were on display & what a presence & impact they made on the participants & spectators attending the event. Finely crafted, Dan's 29 Buick & 39 LaSalle brought a certain elegance to the festivities. Dan's accumulation of skills in restoring these two historic gems are very rare, as several parts that are extinct to these two vintage cars had to be made & Dan made them using old school methods. Along with the parts made Dan also performed every operation required to the overall build except for the few parts that I machined for them & the upholstery. Exceptional workmanship is always a thing of beauty ! Thanks, Dan, for participating in the Mother Road at the Mansion !

It was a great gathering for the 100th anniversary of Rt.66 this past Sunday ! The "Mother Road at the Mansion" featured some of the Nation's finest hot rods, customs & custom classic trucks ! Sending special invitations to the past "Craftsmanship Award" winners (judged & given to each at past Dwight Harvest Days car shows) I didn't fully realize or expect that so many would show up. Eight of the ten "Craftsmanship Award" winners participated, & on a day when rain was in the forecast, the participation was much better than I had anticipated. The "Craftsmanship Award" has taken on a deeper meaning as the folks that own these high end hot rods are quality people & we're happy to say that all have become friends. So, thank you so much for taking the time to participate in this event ! The following are photos of the "Craftsmanship Award" winners in both group & individual photos with the year that each won the award. Special thanks to Aimee & Todd Becker for the original concept of inviting all the "Craftsmanship Award" winners !
