Buying a car from a dealership in Oklahoma? The dealership will take care of pre-registering your new vehicle. Here’s your quick and easy guide!

Step 1: Transfer Plate: If you have an existing metal plate, remind the dealer it can be transferred to your new vehicle.

Step 2: Pre-Registration Decals: If you are transferring an existing metal plate, you will receive temporary decals to put on to your existing plate. If you are not transferring a plate, you’ll get a ten-day temporary paper tag right away. Then, expect your metal plate and pre-registration decals in the mail within ten days.

Step 3: Full Registration: You still have two months to complete full vehicle registration, that means paying for your tag, title and taxes.
