Today just after 2:00 P.M. we were toned for a Water Rescue in the Ohio River just South of the Silver Bridge.

Upon arrival two victims were spotted in the Ohio River. Rescue boats from Point Pleasant and Gallipolis Fire Departments along with land units from each agency responded to the scene. A tug (Queen City) was in the area and requested by radio to assist, the victims were removed from the river and taken by the Queen City to the dock where the patients were treated by Mason County EMS.

Also on scene were the Mason County Sheriffs Department, West Virginia State Police, Gallipolis Police Department and the incident is being investigated by the West Virginia DNR Police.

Glad to report both victims are fine and want to send out a huge Thanks to all involved.

This morning at 8:42 we were toned for a structure fire in a two story structure on Viand Street in Point Pleasant. Upon arrival we could hear screams for help where we found a female victim hanging out of a second story window. We quickly laddered the structure bringing the female safely to the ground.

There was heavy fire throughout the structure after extinguishment the house was demolished to assure no damage to the neighboring property.

As we close the books on 2025
We ran 492 calls. Spent many hours in training and continued to upgrade equipment and prepare for the future.

As I sit here this morning I think of how blessed I am as a Fire Chief to have the great group of men and woman who give freely of themselves to make a positive impact. To each of you I again say Thank You.

492 calls and we covered every single call not with one or two firefighters but with a crew. That is something to be very proud of and is simply unheard of. It takes pride and commitment to make this happen often scheduling amongst the crew to assure every minute of every day is covered.

Most importantly I want to give glory to God for another year of safety with no major injuries or incidents to our crew. Moving forward we ask you to continue to pray for a hedge of protection around our responders as they answer the call.

As we begin 2026 we look forward to the growth and changes coming to our county and commit to service to you our citizens that we proudly serve.
