BEFORE YOU BLAME ANOTHER FISHERMAN, READ THIS.
For far too long, fishermen and women have been pointing fingers at one another. Recreational anglers blame commercial fishermen. Commercial fishermen blame regulations. Everyone feels frustrated, unheard, and convinced that someone else is the problem.
The truth is, most people have never been given all the facts.
This book was written to change that.
Stolen Sea takes you through the history of our fisheries in chronological order using facts, data, timelines, and real-world events. It is not written to tell you what to think. It is written to give you the information needed to form your own educated opinion and have the difficult conversations our fishery desperately needs.
This book is not about one inch, one fish, or one season.
It's about future generations.
It's about making sure that the children and grandchildren who have never held a fishing rod still have the opportunity to experience the same joy we did—catching fish, watching the sunrise over the ocean, listening to stories from generations before us, and creating memories that last a lifetime.
Since releasing the book, I've spoken with people from every corner of the industry. Some were once quick to blame the commercial boat passing by. Others believed recreational fishermen were the problem. What has amazed me most is how those conversations have changed after they read the book.
People begin to see the bigger picture.
Many have told me this book is more than a book—it's a tool. A tool that helps us realize that the battle we've been fighting may be too small and on the wrong front entirely. The challenges facing our fisheries are far bigger than most of us ever imagined, and solving them will require all of us working together.
My goal is simple: to fight for every fisherman and woman, including those who have not yet had the chance to cast their first line.
