Job Description:
Midwest Mobile Maintenance is looking for an energetic, self-motivated and experienced Diesel Mechanic with leadership abilities to join our growing company. Candidates should have a strong background in diesel engine maintenance and repair, including familiarity with OEM level diagnostic software, after treatment systems & troubleshooting, preventative and basic maintenance, and FHWA required repairs across various makes and models of semi-tractors. The ideal candidate would need to be able to work autonomously as well as integrate well into a team setting.
Responsibilities:
Diagnose and repair tractor components such as engines, transmissions and differentials, including repairing/replacing complete assemblies, turbochargers, fuel system components, minor and major electrical, engines & electronic controls, clutch’s, differentials, exhaust systems, driveline components, cab interior, complete wheel end components, air suspension systems, cooling systems, air brake systems, accessory systems, light systems, 5th wheels, and HVAC.
Understand troubleshooting diesel engine/aftertreatment system with OEM level diagnostic programs and other troubleshooting techniques
Ability to use and learn various diagnostic software used on tractors
Conduct preventative maintenance according to manufacturer recommendations and company standards
Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of work performed, including service records, parts used, and labor hours.
Adhere to strict safety protocols in the work environment, maintaining a clean workspace and properly utilizing tools and equipment.
Use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment to troubleshoot issues
Collaborate with other technicians to complete projects efficiently
Must be able to perform all work adhering to DOT, OSHA, and all company safety and maintenance policies
As this position requires driving customer vehicles, it is regulated by the DOT and requires a current driver qualification file to be maintained as required by the role. The driver qualification file includes: an annual motor vehicle records (MVR) check, a successfully completed DOT Physical, and Safety Performance History records request from prior employers in the last 3 years.
Experience:
5+ years of experience with truck and tractor-trailer maintenance
Specialized training and experience in the diagnosis/troubleshooting of major components (engines, transmissions, differentials), OEM training courses, ASE Certification is preferred
Experienced using all tools of the trade (including welding equipment, diagnostic equipment, and hand and power tools)
Valid driver’s license/CDL required
High School or combination of training and/or experience required.
Ability to use and learn various diagnostic software used on tractors
Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
Physical Requirements:
Ability to perform heavy physical work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions
Ability to sit, stand, walk, and climb for extended periods of time
Lift 75-100 lbs. intermittently
Strong customer service skills to interact with drivers and fleet managers

Work Location:
Our main office and shop is located in North Plainfield/Naperville. However, this particular shop position will be located in our customers facility in Bolingbrook.
Job Requirements:
At least 18 years of age
Must possess a current and valid driver license (CDL Required) with a driving record that meets the insurability guidelines set forth by the company’s insurance carrier.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
