PITTSFIELD, MASS. — With Halloween approaching, an area man ran his car through the Lipton Car Wash on South Street, explaining that weeks of leaves and road grime had left the vehicle “bordering on a hazard to children” and that cleaning it was “the responsible thing to do.”

The man, whose 2015 Camry sources confirm had grown “a little gray around the edges,” framed the wash as a matter of public safety. “A kid comes up the driveway in the dark, sees a car that filthy, that could be a core memory,” he said, inspecting the finish. “I’m not going to be the reason some eight-year-old is scared of station wagons for life. That’s on me.”

Witnesses report the man had been “monitoring the dust situation since the first frost,” described the pre-wash car as “frankly a little haunted,” and now intends to leave the porch light on “and the car presentable, as a set.” He is said to have called a clean driveway “the first impression” and the trick-or-treaters “my guests, technically.”

Asked whether children would be looking at his car at all on Halloween, the man said that attitude was “how standards slip,” confirmed he had also cleared the cobwebs from the side mirror “the real kind, not the decorative kind,” and noted that a neighborhood “rises or falls on small efforts.” He then positioned the car “at a welcoming angle.”

The trick-or-treaters could not be reached for comment. They will, he is confident, feel safe.

PITTSFIELD, MASS. — Ahead of a routine trip to a Berkshire farm stand, an area man spent the morning preparing his freshly washed car for the transport of a single pumpkin, a process he described as "just being realistic about the risks."

The man, whose 2015 Camry sources confirm would be carrying one (1) medium pumpkin, left nothing to chance. "People think a pumpkin is harmless. A pumpkin is a sealed container of dirt, stem residue, and unknown moisture," he said, spreading a tarp across the trunk and smoothing it by hand. "You get one leak, one roll, one stem scratch — now you've got a situation back there. I'm not having a situation."

Witnesses report the man laid down a tarp, two towels "for redundancy," and a reusable grocery bag "as a final barrier," then secured the pumpkin with the rear seatbelt and adjusted it twice for "weight distribution." He is said to have driven home at a reduced speed, taking corners "like there was a cake back there," and later described the operation as "incident-free, which is the goal."

Asked whether this was an unusual amount of preparation for a vegetable, the man noted first that a pumpkin is "technically a fruit," said that distinction was "exactly the kind of detail people miss," and confirmed he had already identified "a second, cleaner pumpkin" he had decided against "on logistics." He then wiped down the trunk "preemptively."

The pumpkin could not be reached for comment. It rode, by all accounts, in total safety.
