Liberty Tire Recycling applauds recent progress made in DeKalb County, GA, to craft legislation curbing improper tire disposal.

Illegally dumped tires are "plaguing residential neighborhoods and business districts across the county, causing environmental, public health and public safety challenges," according to DeKalb Policy Analyst Marcus Allen. "These proposed amendments strengthen regulations for scrap tire enforcement and establish updated penalties for unlawful dumping in unincorporated DeKalb County."

Liberty is proud to serve as a statewide tire recycling partner. We look forward to working with the DeKalb County community to tackle this growing problem.

DeKalb County is considering ways to curb tire dumping and the improper disposal of other bulky items. An ordinance under consideration includes a fine of up to $1,000 and imprisonment for individuals.

🏆♻️ Recycled Rubber Recognized with County Excellence Award:

Floyd County, GA, has received a 2026 Georgia County Excellence Award for its Rubber-Modified Asphalt Initiative, an innovative roadway program that transforms recycled tires into durable paving material.

Liberty Tire Recycling provided the project with SmartMIX rubber modified asphalt, a cost-effective technology that improves pavement performance and increases longevity while diverting tires from the waste stream.

“The neatest thing about this entire project, is there is a good possibility that tires in this roadway came from Floyd County,” a project leader shared. “Knowing that we took tires out of the waste stream through our grant-funded amnesty efforts and helped recycle them into our roadways is a great outcome.”

Thank you to the Association County Commissioners of Georgia and Georgia Trend magazine for celebrating sustainable innovation in Floyd County!

🏆♻️ The Tire Recycling Foundation’s Market Development Excellence Award recognizes efforts that have built sustained, scalable demand for tire‑derived products, embedding recycled tire materials into mainstream infrastructure and public works programs.

Liberty Tire Recycling is honored to earn an inaugural nomination alongside the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Alabama State Parks and the Alabama Department of Environmental Management for our work leveraging rubber-modified asphalt (RMA) in the state’s park system.

Alabama State Parks selected Liberty Tire Recycling’s SmartMIX rubber asphalt additive to ensure the roads across its public parks are smoother, safer, and more durable, without the expense and complexity associated with liquid modifiers.

The success of our partnership demonstrates the value of RMA as a dependable material in public infrastructure applications.
